Job Description

What We're Looking For

Within the Overhead Contact System (OCS) discipline, is able to complete certain engineering-related tasks including research, development, calculations, design and delivery with direction. Based on the task, is responsible for preparation and completion of discipline engineering efforts that are responsive to project needs. Contributes to the preparation of design details, plans, and drawings within assigned task areas.

Primary Focus Will Include:

  • Prepare OCS structure and wiring layouts plans
  • Prepare OCS assembly and component drawings
  • Ability to design on screen in production of CAD drawings
  • Supports OCS construction cost estimating
  • Performs structural design calculations
  • Integrates with adjacent system-related disciplines such as traction power, track, signals and communications
  • Ability to schedule their own work
  • Assists Project Engineers with the deliver of discipline tasks
  • Willing to learn more about the Traction Power discipline to broaden his or her experience

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

  • Working toward becoming an EIT or PE
  • 3+ years’ experience specifically in OCS engineering
  • Hands on experience in OCS
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and/or MicroStation software
  • Working knowledge of STAAD
  • Ability to interpret agency design criteria and IEEE, AREMA, CPUC and other codes and standards
  • Experience working with rail clients on rail projects

What You'll Need

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Contributes to the preparation or modification of reports, plans and designs for projects.
  • Assists in the preparation of project quantity and cost estimates.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering
  • 2 years relevant experience
