Job Description
Overview:

Host / Hostess / Cashier / Floor Stock

This position performs a variety of tasks in support of the hospital meal services both in the retail (café) area and in the patient care areas. The team member will work under moderate supervision and is expected to provide friendly, efficient service to patients, patient’s families, other health-care workers and retail customers. Computer use for patient management as well as retail sales is required along with the handling of cash/credit cards in the retail area. This position is also responsible for inventorying and restocking patient care areas with food and other supplies.

Responsibilities:
  • Demonstrates positive customer service relations.
  • Assists patients and guests with menu selections.
  • Prepares tray tickets based on diet orders, food allergies and patient preferences within time expectations.
  • Receives and responds to phone calls regarding patient and guest meal orders.
  • Assists in trayline meal service; checks the items on the tray for accuracy and diet/allergy/preference compliance.
  • Delivers meals to patients in a safe fashion, efficient and courteous manner.
  • Picks up soiled meal trays in a safe fashion. Records intake related to all meals and transfers that data to the computer.
  • Visits with patients daily for preference and menu completion.
  • Works with production staff to ensure that accurate preparations are made.
  • Inventories patient care nourishment rooms and physician lounges for inventory stock needs; restocks areas and rotates supplies following first in, first out procedures.
  • Documents refrigerator and freezer temperatures in areas stocked/serviced by FANS.
  • Completes trayline data sheets and other documents as assigned.
  • Operates cash register in an efficient, consistent and accurate manner.
  • Completes daily transaction reports and submits to FANS management.
  • Delivers daily cash deposit along with credit card receipts, coupons, and copies of report to Admissions area of hospital and secures in safe.
  • Assembles and disassembles food service line in retail area.
  • Stocks food/other supplies in retail area.
  • Serves food in a customer-friendly manner while maintaining correct portion sizes.
  • Maintains the café and dining room in a clean and orderly manner.
  • Provides service recovery as needed; seeks management staff’s assistance if/when needed.
  • Adheres to all safety and sanitation guidelines per ServSafe and Health Department standards.
  • Assists with any other duties (simple food prep, dishwashing, patient meal assembly, etc.) as assigned by FANS Management staff.


Special Requirements
This position requires one-on-one patient and retail customer contact. The employee has to be patient, kind and willing to go above basic requirements to meet the needs of our patients and retail customers.
Working Conditions
The job is performed in an area that experiences extreme temperatures and hazardous condition; the work area is often steamy and floors are wet.Qualifications:

Experience:


Customer Service – 1 year minimum


Hotel/restaurant experience a plus.

Cash handling experience helpful.


Degrees, Licensure, and/or Certification:
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
ServSafe certified a plus.
