$12.19 - $21.21 Hourly

$25,355 - $44,116 Annually

This position is a Pay Band 50

Purpose of Position

Interviews are anticipated to be conducted within two weeks of the closing date.

Why does the job exist?

The purpose of this position is to create a positive learning experience and setting for Nursing Aide students. Will be responsible for training, coaching, mentoring and leading students in all aspects of the duties and responsibilities of a Nursing Aide in preparation for certification.

How does it get done?

Instructs nursing assistant students in learning the skills of a Certified Nursing Assistant.
Plans, develops, directs, evaluates and coordinates the continuing education and competencies for all Certified Nursing Assistants.
Provide ongoing training, coaching, mentoring and leadership to Certified Nursing Assistants.

Who are the customers?

Certified Nursing Assistants/Nursing Assistant Students and Residents at a long-term care facility.

Ideal Candidate

Will have:
The ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language.
The ability to deal tactfully with personnel, and residents.
The ability to function independently and have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with residents, personnel and support agencies.
The knowledge of computer programs, currently being used by the facility.

Minimum Qualification

High School Diploma or Equivalency OR current New Mexico certification as a Nurse Aide (Current out-of-state CNAs may be certified by reciprocity) and three (3) months of experience performing basic patient care under the direction of nursing and/or medical staff.   • Education and years of experience must be related to the purpose of the position.
  • If Minimum Qualification requires a specific number of "semester hours" in a field (e.g. 6 semester hours in Accounting), applicants MUST have those semester hours in order to meet the minimum qualifications. No substitutions apply for semester hours.
Employment Requirements

This position is designated safety sensitive. Employment is subject to pre-employment and random testing, in accordance with all terms and conditions of federal and state law, rules and regulations in relation to alcohol and/or drug testing. Employment is conditional pending results of criminal background check. Successful completion of Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) training is required.

Working Conditions

Works throughout the nursing service area (i.e., training rooms, nurses¿ stations, resident rooms, etc.).
Is subject to hostile and emotionally upset residents, family members, and visitors.
Communicates with nursing personnel and other department personnel.
Works beyond normal working hours, on weekends and holidays.
Is subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc.,
Must be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of 25 pounds to a minimum height of 5 feet and be able to push, pull, move, and/or carry such weight a minimum distance of 50 feet.
May be necessary to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency situations.

Executive Order 2021-046 requires all employees with the State of New Mexico to provide either proof of COVID-19 vaccination or proof of a COVID-19 viral test every week.

The Public Health Order (on Vaccination) dated August 17, 2021, requires Congregate Care Facility Workers and Hospital Workers to be fully vaccinated.
