Job Summary:

The Texas / North LA Region is hiring a Niagara Application Specialist to join our team. This role is based in Texas and supports the TXNLA Region. In this role, you will be responsible for Niagara software design activities for building automation systems. You will need to apply engineering principles and practices for work on assigned projects. Designs cost effective Niagara software control solutions to meet project requirements.


Location: We are open to hiring this position near any of our Trane offices – Carrollton, Fort Worth, San Antonio, Austin, and Lubbock, Texas.


Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for programming activities utilizing direct digital controls, electronic comfort control and automation systems.
  • Maintain and continue to develop Niagara standard database while continuing to add to standard template matching Trane equipment and offerings.
  • Development of Trane specific software needs in the Niagara platform.
  • Continued development of Trane standard Niagara applications.
  • Responsible for design of complex integrated systems that require a high-level programmer.
  • Responsible for review and maintenance of Niagara programing standards.
  • Must be able to analyze project financial restrictions and work to meet both the project and customer needs.
  • Acquire and maintain a mastery of all Trane provided products knowledge and offerings along with applicable specifically Niagara Software offerings.
  • Ability to field phone calls for support regarding the sale of projects as well as field installation per designed drawings.
  • Maintains customer satisfaction by working with the customer and internal team to overcome issues as they come up.

Qualifications:

  • Ten (10) plus years of experience in the HVAC industry performing BAS controls technician/programmer, or an equivalent combination of work experience.
  • Proficient with operation and design of HVAC Systems, Building Automation Systems, and/or Temperature Controls required.
  • Certifications in the following is required- Niagara Advanced Level II Technical Certification.
  • Certifications in the following is required to obtain within first year-Niagara 4 Driver Integration, Niagara 4 E-Signature Certification, Niagara 4 Program Objects, Niagara 4 Developer, Niagara 4 Analytics required.
  • Concrete understanding with concepts of new construction and renovation/retrofit, performance contracting, and service project management.
  • Windows operating system and Microsoft Office product knowledge.
  • Able to create and implement standard database and programming for Niagara solutions.
  • Able to implement offsite solutions for remote programming and troubleshooting facilities utilizing our digital technologies and standard offsite programming.
  • Experienced with ASHRAE and other guidelines pertain to building codes and limitations.
  • Firm understanding of industry standard protocol and requirements for integration.
  • Understanding of IT infrastructure and network architecture.
  • Some travel with overnight stays. Ability to travel 20%.
  • Flexibility to work outside normal work hours/weekends, as required.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license for a minimum of 12 months, with no major or frequent traffic violations including, but not limited to:
    • DUI in the previous 5 years
    • Hit & Run, License Suspension, Reckless / Careless Driving or multiple smaller infractions or preventable collisions in the previous 3 years.
