Job Description (describe the day-to-day):

Jacobs has a position for a Network Security Engineer in support of a 24/7/365 Operations & Maintenance support contract for the US Department of Agriculture, Food Safety Inspection Services (FSIS), who provides IT services to approximately 12,000 Federal and State customers. Joining a team that supports the FSIS Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO), he or she will perform the following duties:

  • Configure/update Network Security devices (Cisco ASA, Cisco Firepower, Cisco ASR – ZBF, Juniper SRX3600), Cisco ISE, WiFi AP’s/Controllers and VoIP network.
  • Track the issues assigned to your team (Tier 3 as part of the Service Desk) and ensure the tickets are resolved within the contract Service Level Agreement.
  • Report network enterprise status to key stakeholders
  • Interface with senior leadership, briefing the customer and participating/hosting multiple weekly and monthly status/technical working group meetings.
  • Generate comprehensive reports and contract task deliverables
  • Work with your team to maximize network security through ongoing monitoring and troubleshooting utilizing monitoring tools and perform packet captures/analysis, etc.
  • Brief enterprise changes on a Technical Change Control Board meetings and implementation as needed.
Here’s What You’ll Need:

Qualifications (minimum requirements, clearance, exp, tools, must haves, etc.):

  • Ability to work under pressure both independently and as a part of team
  • Have flexible working hours to be available to support team when needed
  • Possesses excellent communication skills and is result oriented
  • FTD (Firepower Threat Defense) and FMC (Firepower Management Center) experience
  • Strong secondary experience in one or more of the following areas:
  • Cisco Route & Switch
  • Cisco ISE
  • Cisco WLAN
  • Experience with a range of network monitoring, troubleshooting, and analysis tools:
  • Riverbed – NetIM
  • Wireshark
  • Experience with Cisco - ISR4k, ASR, ASA5585, Firepower, FMC, ISE, ACS, Nexus 7k, 5k, 2k
  • US Citizenship (ability to obtain Public Trust Clearance T2S)

Desired Requirements (nice to have but not required):

  • Certifications in multiple technology areas with an active CCNP Security or CCIE Security strongly preferred
  • Experience with Juniper - ISG, SRX210, SSG20

Minimum Requirements:

  • 4 or more years or more exposure to Cisco Firepower, ASA, and ISE

Physical Requirements:

Most work will be done at a desk or computer. Be able to lift up to 50lbs.

Work Environment:

General Office environment. The work environment is fast-paced and sometimes involves extreme deadline pressures. The nature of the work requires a high degree of teamwork and cooperation with other members of the staff as well as individuals across the Company and Customers.

Equipment & Machines:

General office equipment including PC/laptop, Fax, Copiers, Shredder, Printers, Telephone, and other miscellaneous office equipment.

Attendance:

Attendance is critical at all times. Must be able to work a 40-hour work week, normally Monday through Friday. However, times and days may vary depending on business requirements. Needs to be available to work overtime during critical peaks and be available to meet last minute requests for overtime should the situation occur.

Must take and pass a drug test and background check as well as a motor vehicle records check. Must be a US citizen.
