The Network Contract Manager develops the provider network - hospitals and physicians yielding a geographically competitive, broad access, stable network that achieves objectives for unit cost performance and trend management, and produces an affordable and predictable product for customers and business partners. Network Contract Managers evaluate and negotiate contracts in compliance with company contract templates, reimbursement structure standards, and other key process controls. Responsibilities also include establishing and maintaining strong business relationships with Hospital, Physician, Pharmacy, or Ancillary providers, and ensuring the network composition includes an appropriate distribution of provider specialties.

This role supports and contracts with the physician and hospital network in Idaho for all lines of business.

If you are located within ID, NV, or UT, you will have the flexibility to telecommute* as you take on some tough challenges. Boise, ID office preferred.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Anticipate customer needs and proactively develop solutions to meet them
  • Negotiate hospital and key physician, system contracts
  • Serve as a key resource on complex and / or critical issues
  • Forecast and plan ongoing hospital and physician contract renewal strategy
  • May lead functional or segment teams or projects

Required Qualifications:
  • Undergraduate or higher-level degree, or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of experience in the health care industry
  • 3+ years of experience in a network management related role handling complex network providers with accountability for business results
  • 2+ years of experience with provider contracting
  • Expert level of knowledge of Medicare reimbursement methodologies such as Resource Based Relative Value System (RBRVS), DRGs, Ambulatory Surgery Center Groupers, etc.
  • Proficient with MS Excel
  • You will be asked to perform this role in an office setting or other company location, however, may be required to work from home temporarily due to space limitations
  • Employees are required to screen for symptoms using the ProtectWell mobile app, Interactive Voice Response (i.e., entering your symptoms via phone system) or a similar UnitedHealth Group-approved symptom screener prior to entering the work site each day, in order to keep our work sites safe. Employees must comply with any state and local masking orders. In addition, when in a UnitedHealth Group building, employees are expected to wear a mask in areas where physical distancing cannot be attained

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 2+ years of experience using data analysis skills; ability to construct strategy from the provider data
  • 2+ years of experience in contributing to the development of product pricing and utilizing financial modeling in making rate decisions
  • Proficiency with all ACO, value based / provider / facility contract reimbursement methodologies
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
