Job Description
Reports to both Associate Chief Physician of Affiliations. Provides administrative support to anesthesia departments at 5 MUSC hospitals in the Columbia and Florence markets. Maintains and coordinates physician and CRNA provider schedules using web-based scheduling software (ShiftAdmin). Coordinates communication between providers in the department and facilitates scheduling, meetings, and other activities. Verifies and reports provider hours for payroll processing. Assists billing office with gathering any missing information required for billing and collections. Assists medical director in resolving patient complaints. Sets appointments for medical director and other clinicians as appropriate, attends meetings and takes notes if requested, provides typing support for memos, minutes, letters, etc. Maintains up to date provider lists and contact information for both Florence and Marion facilities and assists medical staff office and HR personnel to ensure timely submission of needed documents. Ensures employee actions (recruiting, hiring, promotions, and separations) are processed in a timely manner. Assists in departmental new hire orientation process as needed. Attend departmental meetings and MUSC sponsored meetings/events or training sessions. Completing all required training elements as well as updates within the time designated. Assists medical director in coordination and completion of annual evaluations for all providers. Tracks credentialing documentation for CRNA’s to ensure compliance with medical staff bylaws. Tracks fit testing, annual PPD, and immunization records for providers in conjunction with medical staff office personnel. Assists medical director in ensuring timely completion of patient charts.

Required Minimum Training and Education:

  • High School Diploma at minimum.
  • Proficient in computer technology utilized in the performance of duties.
  • Proficient with EXCEL, WORD, POWER POINT, Email applications, and the internet.
  • Health care experience a MUST, with strong preference for experience in emergency medicine and/or hospital medicine

Additional Duties and Responsibilities:

Physical Requirements: Continuous requirements are to perform job functions while standing, walking, and sitting. Ability to bend at the waist, kneel, climb stairs, reach in all directions, fully use both hands and legs, possess good finger dexterity, perform repetitive motions with hands/wrists/elbows and shoulders, reach in all directions . Maintain 20/40 vision corrected, see and recognize objects close at hand and at a distance, work in a latex safe environment and work indoors. Frequently lift and/or carry objects weighing 20 lbs (+/-) unassisted. Lift from 36” to overhead 15 lbs. Infrequently work in dusty areas and confined/cramped spaces.
