As an Underwriter you will apply your proven experience by underwriting Conventional, FHA, and VA loans for risk analysis and compliance, while providing clear, concise and appropriate conditions when rendering decisions on each loan.


Job Type: 100% Remote Full-Time position

  • The median base compensation for this position is estimated to be $65,000/year subject to adjustment based on business-related factors including employee qualifications and operational considerations.
  • This position may be eligible for performance-based bonuses as determined in the Company’s sole discretion.

Responsibilities: To assist the Operations Manager in the day-to-day management of Processors. Provide service and quality processing of loan files in accordance with all Government, Federal, State and Investor regulations, assuring the marketable quality of each loan.
  • Manage and monitor all daily reports related to the position and respond to the Operations/Center Manager as necessary.
  • Process Broker checks and track file to Imaging.
  • A30 deposits and reconciliation.
  • Process Associate mortgage loan files.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of Lennar Mortgage lending programs, policies, procedures and terminology applicable to government and conventional loans.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of, and ensure compliance with, Lennar Mortgage policy and secondary market requirements pertaining to credit security standards and regulation for government and conventional loans. Recommend changes in policies/procedures as appropriate.
  • Train, assist, coach, supervise and support departmental personnel including orientation for new Processors.
  • Ensure files conform to Lennar Mortgage, HUD, VA and conventional guidelines.
  • Provide liaison between the Underwriting Department and Production branch and other Lennar Mortgage departments (Assist Ops Manager).
  • Watch the Queue for POP loans.
  • Underwrite overflow POP loans.
  • Assist Ops Manager in signing off on APC loans that need to be taken to Closing Department.
  • Manage all SMO conditions for the assigned team.
  • Assist Ops Manager in signing all cancelled loans.
  • Prep FedEx forms and prepare box for cancelled loans.
  • Act as Buddy to the team when a Processor is out sick or on vacation.
  • Provide positive and motivating support to the team.
  • Attend power calls with Ops Manager.
  • Team Leader – First Line of Defense on trouble shooting files.
  • Assist Ops Manager with interviews, test, hire, disciplinary actions and terminations of Loan Processing Associates.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Associate Degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school; or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must have basic knowledge of the mortgage banking industry and general concept of processing as it relates to the department as well as Federal, State, FHA, VA, and Conventional investor requirements. A detailed understanding of Destiny as well as basic computer skills
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. The ability to write reports and business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from group of managers, sales personnel, clients, and customers.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages and compute income calculations.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variable in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
  • Decides how to respond to basic customer/client questions and may be required to deal with highly confidential information. Decide when to use own judgment and when to seek supervisor assistance. Prioritizes and execute assignments and take the initiative to complete tasks.
  • Relates to clients, customers, staff and management by providing the primary function of processing the loan. Requires attention to detail, organization ability and the ability to work under pressure while maintaining courtesy, tact, patience and a pleasant demeanor. Must possess excellent communication skills and the ability to interface with office personnel and the public.
  • Must have the ability to communicate any found discrepancies and/or errors in a positive manner.
  • Knowledge of office procedures
