  • Position is located at Pine Cottage, 2:30p-10:30p days/hours may vary. This position requires you to work weekends. A negative drug screen is required as a condition of employment.

    The purpose of the Mental Health Developmental Disability Technician position is to provide direct services and supports to the people who live at PSH&TC so that they can achieve personal growth and well-being, realize choice, attain full inclusion and celebrate their individuality.

    The essential functions of this position require physical strength to frequently push, pull, twist, bend, squat, walk, stand for extended periods of time, lift and/or restrain residents with or without assistance and respond to aggressive resident behavior with specific, trained techniques. Must be able to observe and respond to residents in distress.

    Qualifications:

    Preferred Criteria: Completion of an established training program approved by Kansas Department of Social and Rehabilitation Services. Employees in this position will receive college credit for participation in the MHDDT training program, which is offered by Parsons State Hospital and Training Center, in partnership with Labette Community College. Employees will be required to attend classes, complete assignments, and actively participate in 12 credit hours of courses during the year.

    Staff who operates a motor vehicle must possess a valid Kansas driver’s license.

    Positions in this class require that at the time of appointment the selected candidate must take and pass a drug screening test approved by the Division of Personnel Services. Persons hired must also pass a law enforcement security clearance in compliance with policies of the Department of Aging and Disability Services.
