Job Description

Seeking a competent, crisis-trained clinical and/or forensic mental health practitioner (Masters or Doctoral level only) to join our fast-growing private psychology practice in Clearwater, Florida. TBPA is an exclusive specialty practice that partners with local law enforcement, fire, EMS, and other first responder agencies to provide mental health trainings, evaluations (fitness for duty and pre-employment), and ongoing therapy to this unique clientele. TBPA comprises the only team of mental health professionals specially catered to public safety and critical response personnel across Pinellas, Hillsborough, Pasco, and other local counties. Our practitioners function independently within a cohesive team setting to provide a broad scope of specialized care to this population in the areas of traumatic stress exposure/PTSD, suicidality and crisis management, substance abuse issues, family/marital disruptions, and various other personal life matters. We also maintain a civilian side of the practice, where we provide various testing and evaluation services to include ASD, educational assessments, etc.

A unique facet of TBPA is our rotating, on-call schedule, which provides the agencies we serve with round-the-clock phone access to our mental health team. Our ability to function 24-7/365 sets us apart from other psychology practices and makes us readily availability to respond on-scene, telephonically, or at the office, as needed. This service allows us to immediately and effectively address emergent concerns in our departments as they arise. These on-call duties will be shared as a requirement of this position, but all members operate as a team to provide the best support to our providers and the patients we serve.

The ideal candidate will have clinical experience with crisis and trauma management strategies and be comfortable implementing same intuitively in on-the-go and emergent settings. In addition, a solid background in talk therapy is a must, with emphasis on goal-and-results-oriented and evidenced-based treatment modalities. The successful candidate will evidence creative and consistently sound clinical judgment and decision-making. They should show willingness to embrace and utilize our practice’s capability to work as a larger team to address client needs as an agency, not solely as an individual therapist, when appropriate. Outgoing and savvy interpersonal skills are imperative to this position, which includes conducting and giving presentations to large audiences and agencies. Flexible, confident and adaptable personalities tend to excel in work with the populations we serve. Prior experience working alongside or within law enforcement and emergency services is an advantage but not necessarily required.

Licensed and Pre-licensed practitioners are invited to apply. Please note, this position is highly competitive, and we are looking for the best fitting applicant.
