New Friends New Life restores and empowers formerly trafficked girls and sexually exploited women and children. By providing access to education, job training, interim financial assistance, mental health, and spiritual support, New Friends New Life helps women and children overcome backgrounds of abuse, addiction, poverty, and limited opportunities.


Position Overview

The Mental Health Clinician, under general supervision, will provide New Friends New Life members with professional mental health services, clinical and casework services, and counseling and treatment.


Reporting Relationship

The Mental Health Clinician reports directly to the Clinical Program Manager.


Job Responsibilities

  • Provide individual and group therapy to women who have been victims of sex trafficking or who have been involved in the commercial sex industry.
  • Work collaboratively within a team of therapists.
  • Utilize evidence-based treatment (DBT, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) with fidelity in the treatment of trauma-exposed individuals.
  • Conduct intakes and assessments to due determine areas of focus for treatment.
  • Provide suicide and risk assessments when needed while making the appropriate referrals and recommendations.
  • Maintain accurate notes and document all sessions and correspondence with clients.
  • Attend all staff meetings, direct service meetings, supervision, consultation groups, and trainings.
  • Provide training in the community regarding sex trafficking, commercial sexual exploitation of minors, or a related subject matter.
  • Perform other duties as requested.

Required Job Qualifications, Education, Skills:

  • 2+ years fully-licensed counseling experience with high risk populations requiring trauma care
  • Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, Clinical Psychology, or related field
  • Licensed in the state of Texas: LPC, LPC-S, LCSW, LMSW, LMFT
  • EMDR experience preferred
  • Have high energy levels, self-motivated, results oriented, and have excellent people and communication skills
  • Strategic thinker
