Memory Care - Compass Rose Lifestyle Assistant

COPE: All Compass Rose Coordinators of Westmont Living communities are key team members, maintaining full accountability for fulfillment of the mission of Westmont Living at their respective communities. The Compass Rose Coordinator is responsible for promoting “Live Your Way ®” activity program, in which all three components of health and wellness are addressed, physical exercise/activity, brain fitness/lifelong learning and social events/spirituality, within the Compass Rose neighborhood. Trains, coordinates, and facilitates all aspects of the Compass Rose activities program.

Position Requirements:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • High School diploma or equivalent

Must have criminal record clearance prior to initial presence in the community Must have passed post offer health physical, TB test and drug screen

  • Must have current basic first aid, or obtain within first 30 days of hire

Completion of state specific required training, completed in mandated time frame Able to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or bend for numerous or long periods of time Able to lift 50 pounds and push, pull, or transfer 100 pounds

  • Must be able to speak, read and understand English
  • One year experience in conducting group activities and events preferred
  • Current Class B driver’s license preferred
  • Activity Director Certification preferred
  • Dementia experience required, minimum 1 year
  • Must have strong organizational skills including ability to follow-up, detail-oriented, ability to multi-task
  • Able to work with residents in a respectful, compassionate manner

Core Responsibilities:

This position provides for a high level of customer service to both residents and team members. This is accomplished though promoting Westmont Living’s Service Promise and Service Standards. This position is responsible for coordinating appropriate activities for residents with dementia, in our Compass Rose neighborhood. Resident Satisfaction
  • Plans, coordinates and participates in a variety of dementia appropriate activities, social events and outings for residents, which promote and address the outcomes of “Successful Aging” philosophy to include physical and mental stimulation, spiritual needs, social engagement and lifelong learning.

Encourages resident participation to develop and maintain residents’ fullest potential. Coordinates and conduct outside activities including scenic drives, luncheon and dinner outings.

Compass Rose Lifestyle Coordinator rev. 1/13

  • Offers physical exercise activities and group exercise programs designed to improve strength, balance and flexibility.

Offers activities designed to maintain brain fitness including reading, cards/games, puzzles, etc. Helps to coordinate community-wide special events open to families and friends. May provide transportation for residents as needed.

Orders supplies, schedules and sets up all activities in Compass Rose neighborhood. Ensures residents activity interests are being met with attention to individuality and dignity, while maintaining an optimal level of functional ability.

Operations

Ensures neighborhood team members are fully trained in the Compass Rose activity program. Assists with ensuring that the neighborhood is clean, orderly and secure.

Provides the Compass Rose Program Director with daily status reports on each resident. Assists with evaluation of incoming residents and periodic re-evaluation to ensure that all interests are identified and activity interests are met. Assures residents continually hydrate while doing activities throughout the day. Assists residents during meal times to verify each resident is consuming meals according to their individual service plans.

Organizational Structure

The Compass Rose Lifestyle Coordinator reports to the Compass Rose Program Director. The Compass Rose Program Director reports to the Executive Director

  • The Executive Director reports to the Regional Director of Operations
