Job Description

Join our lab at the #1 hospital in Wisconsin!

We are seeking a Medical Lab Technician to:

  • Perform and verify patient testing, proficiency testing and QC. Troubleshoot when necessary.
  • Demonstrate decision-making skills, ability to work independently, and the ability to take on teaching/training responsibilities as needed.
  • Perform phlebotomy, process specimens for testing/transport, provide patient instructions and answer provider questions as needed.

Education :

  • Minimum - Associate degree in laboratory science or medical laboratory technology OR education and training equivalent to an associate degree to include 60 semester hours including either:
    • 24 semester hours of medical laboratory technology courses or
    • 24 semester hours of science courses
  • Preferred - Associate degree in Medical Laboratory Technology OR Bachelor’s degree in medical technology, clinical laboratory science, or chemical, physical, or biological science

Work Experience :
Preferred - One (1) year experience as Medical Laboratory Technician or relevant laboratory experience

Licenses and Certifications :
Preferred – Certification Medical Laboratory Technician by the board of American Society of Clinical Pathologists or similar agency.

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities :

  • Ability to demonstrate the following skills: organizational, written and verbal communication
  • Attention to detail, analytical and problem-solving
  • Computer and information systems skills/abilities.
  • Knowledge of quality control and quality assurance principles.
  • Ability to demonstrate competence and work independently in all essential laboratory procedures at a level sufficient to perform satisfactorily without supervision
  • Demonstrate the ability to work under stress in a variety of situations.
  • Ability to demonstrate good patient relations, as demonstrated by positive patient interactions, professional attitude, and appearance.

Physical Requirements :
Light: Ability to lift up to 20 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 10 pounds.

W ork Schedule :
This position is full-time, or scheduled 40 hours per week. The position schedule is as follows:

  • M - 8:00 am to 4:30 pm
  • T - 7:30 am to 4:00 pm
  • W - 8:00 am to 4:30 pm
  • Th - 7:45 am to 4:15 pm
  • F - 7:30 am to 4:00 pm

Hours may vary depending on the operational needs of the department.

Sign-On Bonus : This position is eligible for up to a $2,000 sign-on bonus (pro-rated on FTE/Hours).
