Position is located: Northern Light Maine Coast Hospital

Work Type: PRN

Work Schedule: Variable

Job Summary: Collects, processes and performs analytical testing on patient specimens; performs quality control procedures; evaluates and reports patient test results; performance maintenance procedures on testing equipment. Knowledge of the theories and principles of medical technology allows MLT to follow prescribed strategies for recognizing a problem and problem solve using undermined criteria. Ability to work alone during night shift. Consults Lead Technologist, Director Laboratory Services or Medical Director, as needed.

Qualifications:

MLT - Certification as an MLT or eligible to obtain MLT certification by a recognized certifying agency such as ASCP or completion of a military training program or other MLT training program. If eligible to obtain MLT certification, must successfully complete within 6 months of hire.

- OR-

MT - Associate degree in medical laboratory technology (or formal 52 week military training program in medical laboratory technology) with certification as an MT/MLS/CLS by a nationally recognized certifying agency OR bachelor's degree and completion of a formal medical laboratory training program required (national certification preferred).
