Responsibilities*

Pulmonary and Nephrology Outpatient Clinic has an opening for an experienced, self-motivated, team orientated Medical Assistant/Associate. This role will be to provide exceptional customer service to patients and families by performing clinical processes that result in the management of efficient patient flow. Selected candidate must excel in patient intake, information gathering, direct and indirect patient care, data entry, patient preparation for procedures, medication administration, clinical support to providers, patient follow-up, and prescription management. Other responsibilities include: taking vital signs, injections, EKGs, performing and or assisting simple diagnostic tests and procedures, collecting specimens, sterilization/cleaning of equipment, supply stocking, and maintenance of patient care areas. The successful candidate will be required to perform patient care administrative tasks which may include: document imaging, managing fax server and MiChart in-basket, form completion and prior authorizations.
Required Qualifications*

In order to be considered for this position the applicant must have met or will have met all the required qualifications prior to the start date of employment.
Completion of a Medical Assistant program or have an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Individual must exhibit a professional and positive image when interacting with patients, faculty and staff. They must also adhere to a high standard of personal and professional conduct; possess excellent customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills; and demonstrate ability to interact with a diverse population.
Candidates must be able to work effectively with a multidisciplinary team, handling multiple responsibilities in a fast paced environment. In addition, candidate must demonstrate problem solving skills, proficient computer and keyboarding skills, and excellent attendance.

Desired Qualifications*
Certification as an MA. Experience working within a large, complex, healthcare setting. Familiarity with Epic/MiChart. Knowledge of University policies & procedures.
Based on qualifications and department need, this position can be filled as a Medical Assistant or Medical Assistant Associate.
Work Schedule

Patient care hours in the clinic are 7:00 AM – 600 PM Monday through Thursday and 7:00 AM -5:30 PM on Friday. This is a full time position working 40 hours per week.

This position may be filled at a lower classification depending on the qualifications of the selected candidate.
Background Screening

Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings. Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.
