Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY STATEMENT:

The Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) technician will facilitate and oversee treatment sessions for individuals who are experiencing a variety of psychiatric conditions. TMS is the only FDA approved non-invasive, non-systemic treatment for major depression and OCD.

The TMS technician will set up the TMS medical device and monitor all aspects of the treatment sessions while administering TMS treatments according to specific physician protocols to ensure patient comfort, safety, and treatment effectiveness/accuracy. They will help track patients’ progress under the supervision of our team physicians and nursing supervisors.

In addition to administering and monitoring treatment, the TMS technician provides excellent patient care and treat patients with compassion while developing trust and rapport. They provide support and compassion to patients experiencing depression, OCD, and/or anxiety.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

  • Associates degree or equivalent from an accredited university in the field of psychology, social work, pre-med, healthcare, or related major.

Experience: none required

Licensure/ Registration/ Certification:

  • Current CPR/BLS required. Must maintain current certification in performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). (Required and can be obtained after securing employment)

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to build rapport with patients is essential.
  • Ability to accept supervision. Must be willing to take direction and correction when needed. Must have ability to comprehend and follow detailed instructions and make sound judgments.
  • Ability to work autonomously - enjoys working with minimal direction (“Self-starter and self-manager”).
  • Ability to work independently, be attentive to detail, and maintain a positive attitude.
  • Ability to manage multiple and simultaneous responsibilities and to prioritize scheduling of work.
  • Ability to record observations completely, accurately, legibly, and concisely.
  • Working knowledge of commonly utilized computer software.
  • Must be able to coordinate and communicate effectively with patients, physicians, peers, departmental managers, health plan/insurance representatives, and other departments.
  • Ability to maintain professional appearance and demeanor, personal boundaries, and interface well with patients in a mental-health setting required.
  • Must be able to apply the principles and values of patient/customer service and continuous quality improvement while performing day to day activities of the position.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to maintain standards of clinical skills and professional ethics as established by relevant professional organizations
  • Demonstrates knowledge of age related growth and development principles necessary to provide appropriate service and ensure safety of patients.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Bachelor's Degree

Experience: 2 years working in healthcare, behavioral health

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Experience with Electronic Medical Record
    • Knowledge of Health Plan/Insurance operations
    • Successful completion of TMS certification based on initial training provided (training and certification provided during the initial period of employment)
