Job Description

Works with customers, millwrights, sales team, fabricators, purchasing agents, suppliers, and other engineers to produce detailed customer site drawings. May evaluate products, parts, or processes for cost efficiency, ease of manufacturing/installation, and reliability. Works with other members of the millwright division to ensure that job site drawings are completed in a timely manner.

Job Responsibilities

  • Collect and verify information being received
  • Must be able to create own schedule that falls within construction schedule
  • Utilize company and OSHA standards in regards to standard projects such as platforms, towers, catwalk and conveyors.
  • Perform proper calculations using company and OSHA standards to ensure projects meet equipment specifications and customer needs
  • Create detailed Inventor software models
  • Get approval drawings signed and/or stamped as required by company policy
  • Be able to do basic modifications in Inventor
  • Knowledge of AutoCad is a plus
  • Communicate with the rest of the company to determine timeline, workload, and availability
  • Improve methods of communication and provide support between design department and the following throughout the process

Position Job Hours Breakdown

  • 20%: Communicate with sales team, millwright and MMF/other Manufacturing Drafters to collect and verify all necessary specifications
  • 60%: Design detailed job site drawings and specifications.
  • 15%: Support installation by providing field drawings as necessary and answering installation questions that arise
  • 5%: Review and consider field feedback to improve future designs

Required Qualifications

  • Knowledge of grain handling systems and support structures preferred
  • Experience with steel/sheet metal design using Auto-desk Inventor and Auto Cad
  • Strong computer skills including experience with MS Office products.
  • Must be detail oriented with strong analytical and math skills.
  • Ability to accomplish all required tasks under limited supervision
  • Must be organized, self-motivated and capable of self-scheduling to meet deadlines
  • Ability to effectively communicate, both written and verbally, with other team members.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment
