Summary of PositionThe Math Support Coordinator will provide professional math one-on-one tutoring for UNH Manchester students in all math courses offered, including college algebra, finite math, pre-calculus, calculus, and statistics, as well as facilitate study groups and supplemental instruction for math classes as needed. The position will also support tutoring in the discipline of computer information and computer science. The Math Support Coordinator will also help recruit, hire, and mentor math, engineering, and computer peer tutors. The Math support Coordinator will develop curriculum for and team teach the tutor development course, UMST 521, with the Center director. The Math Support coordinator collaborates with the UNH Manchester applied science and engineering and sciences (AES) department, and attends AES department meetings. The Math Support Coordinator, in coordination with the UNH Department of Mathematics & Statistics in Durham, also selects, coordinates, administers, and scores the math placement exams. This position includes serving on college-wide standing committees, may advise students, and performs other duties as assigned.

Other minimum qualificationsMaster’s degree in mathematics, math education, or related field preferred (i.e. computer science, engineering, etc). A minimum of two years experience in teaching and/or tutoring post-secondary academic support required.
Additional Preferred QualificationsKnowledge of learning theory. Experience teaching or tutoring calculus II. Advanced coursework or experience in engineering or computer science disciplines. Commitment to student access, development and success Experience working with diverse populations.
