Position Summary:

The Marketing Consultant is responsible for defining GCRC’s market strategies, along with creating, developing, and executing a range of strategies to attract guests from around the World. By inspiring travel, we infuse growth for Grand Canyon West, Hualapai River Runners, Hualapai Lodge and other tourism offerings developed by GCRC. Through revenue development, the quality of life for the Hualapai People is enriched.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the implementation of marketing strategies for GCRC, designed to inspire travel to our destinations domestically and internationally.
  • Collaboration with, and day-to-day management of, advertising agency of record. This includes creation, evaluation and oversight of budget, research, media planning, and creative direction. It requires communication and collaboration with GCRC’s leadership and staff, and GCRC’s shareholders as needed.
  • Responsible for the oversight of GCRC’s website content through development, design and maintenance. This includes evaluation and oversight of partners and partner projects needed to maintain fully functioning websites, email marketing, apps and other digital platforms.
  • Lead, coach, train, develop and motivate all marketing department employees. Responsible for the development of a marketing team that is competent, commercially astute, dedicated, and efficient.
  • Supervise GCRC’s social media specialist in development and execution of digital marketing efforts across all consumer facing digital platforms (owned and paid) including but not limited to GCRC’s website, SEO, CRM, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, Twitter, and YouTube.
  • Develop and execute marketing campaigns, branding, positioning, and communications by using various advertising mediums such as print, internet, broadcast, billboards, promotional contests, etc.
  • In conjunction with CEO and DOO, design, implement, present and maintain the annual marketing plan for GCRC through market research, industry trends and opportunities. Assist with the development of department objectives and strategies, and translate those to develop brand portfolio objectives to ensure GCRC’s growth and revenue expansion.
  • Manage Public Relations activities, including press and marketing communications agencies.
  • Assist with product development by assessing GCRC’s products, pricing, and mark-up factors then recommending adjustments to achieve maximum visitation and revenues based on the economy and trends, if needed.
  • Develop and deliver insightful strategies to the Board of Directors, CEO, and DOO on a monthly basis.
  • Develop marketing material according to specific markets and customer requirements.
  • Represent or manage representation of marketing at trade shows, product presentations, sales calls and other related activities. Collect and analyze data on customer demographics, preferences and buying habits, and data collected at trade shows to continue to expand into new markets.
  • Manage research on consumer opinions by ensuring all opinions posted online are thoroughly reviewed and responded to in a timely manner along with working with GCRC’s team to address consumer feedback.
  • Establish and maintain corporative relationships with representatives of the community, consumers, employees, news media, outside agencies, DMV’s, VCB’s and other public groups.
  • Sell GCRC’s products to tour operators, groups, suppliers and other vendors and organizations.
  • Represent GCRC, the Hualapai Tribe and its shareholders, always, with the upmost respect.
  • Perform other work-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors’ Degree in Marketing or a related field.
  • A minimum of 10 years demonstrated leadership experience in Tourism, Hospitality, Tribal Enterprise, or Chamber of Commerce organizations.
  • In-depth knowledge of Grand Canyon West locations and operations, Hualapai history and culture.
  • Experience working with an advertising agency is preferred.
  • Website, Ecommerce, digital media, and video production project management experience is preferred.
  • Outdoor-adventure tourism interest is preferred (white-water rafting, zipline, biking, hiking, etc.)
  • Demonstrated experience with branding, media buying, internet, digital and print advertising and domestic and international advertising, contract execution and event coordination.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects from development through execution.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and ability of data analysis. Must analyze market conditions, demographics, public preferences, and ticket sales patterns in order to put together a comprehensive marketing plan.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of royalty and copyright regulations.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate in a clear concise manner both orally and in writing.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and execute marketing presentations to the Board of Directors, at trade shows, to vendors and communities, etc.
  • Demonstrated ability to direct and develop third party marketing agreements and contracts.
  • Demonstrated ability to make financial, budgetary, and business decisions and work independently.
  • Ability to lead, coach, train, develop and motivate employees to ensure customer expectations are exceeded. Demonstrated ability to foster a team environment, multi-task efficiently and maintain positive working relationships.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office/Working knowledge of IT and marketing software (e.g. CRM).
  • Valid Driver’s License and must be eligible for Tribal Insurance.
  • Must have a valid Passport or ability to obtain a Passport.
  • Fluency in foreign languages preferred.
  • Tribal experience highly desired.
  • HUALAPAI PREFERENCE: Preference given to Hualapai Tribal members.

Working Conditions:

Regularly visits to GCRC's properties, willingness to travel when needed.
