Description
As a Manufacturing Quality Engineer (MQE) at Mack Trucks, you will be responsible for maintaining and upholding internal Quality processes and standards on the production line. MQEs analyze internal and external performance data and investigate quality disruptions within our build teams. When necessary they work in conjunction with design, supply and other cross-functional groups on systematic improvements to our production system.
Our Production Quality teams work to ensure our product meets the high level of Quality demanded by our Customers. This will require sharp critical thinking and problem solving skills as well as strong interpersonal and teamwork skills to ensure the highest level of acceptance and understanding of the concepts we enforce within our production teams. Preferred candidates will have a blend of Mechanical aptitude and strong analytic skills and will be passionate about supporting team goals and learning new concepts.

Core Responsibilities
  • Support implementation of all Quality processes Coordinate Quality activities for the assigned manufacturing unit
  • Maintain appropriate quality performance documentation (Charts/Graphs), and communicate results to the Business Unit
  • Analyze quality data to make recommendations for improvement focus areas
  • Develop and implement improvements via Kaizens
  • Implement containment, corrective actions and follow-up on quality issues – including facilitation of responses to findings and handling of Quality case documentation
  • Lead effective problem solving activities to investigate nonconformities
  • Serve as Quality liaison with support groups and cross functional teams
  • Coordination of Quality training
  • Support the ISO Quality system as requested

Required Technical Competencies:
  • Time Management: Ability to manage changing workload, and complete tasks independently
  • Problem Solving/Decision Making: logical approach and acting despite obstacles or ambiguity
  • Effective Communication Skills: written and verbal
  • Organizational Skills: task management, orderly documentation and info management
  • Ability to understand technical specifications and requirements
  • High Proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint; familiarity with Power BI and Access a plus
  • Qualifications, Educational Skills and Experience:
    • Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering or related discipline
    • Associate in Engineering with 2+ years’ experience in Manufacturing will be considered
    • Some manufacturing experience preferred
    • Six Sigma belt a plus
