Manufacturing Engineer - Body in Black:

Singer Vehicle Design (SVD) :is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer :to join our world-class team. A team that is redefining what an iconic performance automobile can be.

Singer Manufacturing Engineers are responsible for the creation of standard work. This role will be responsible for the manufacturing process and resource to fit and bond carbon body panels to the Porsche 964 chassis. This is a dynamic position that requires the ability to create and manage project timelines while driving improvement in all areas with a focus on safety, quality, cost, and delivery. As a manufacturing engineer, you will define manufacturing planning templates, own process definition, quality standards, and cost reduction initiatives. You will also be responsible for creating a lean part flow through production resources and implementing these resources in a new facility.

Core Requirements: :
  • Engineering degree in industrial, mechanical, or manufacturing engineering
  • 3-5 years in Body in White (Black) Equipment/ Manufacturing/ Process Engineering in a Body Shop manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with composite manufacturing.
  • Strong mechanical intuition and extensive hands-on experience modifying jigs, fixtures, and coordinating equipment installations. Prior CNC or manual machining experience beneficial.
  • Good understanding of BOMs, manufacturability, process design, process validation, assembly methods, design reviews, and cost reduction methodologies.
  • Strong understanding of statistics to identify critical process parameters.
  • Experience in the automotive Body in White equipment design and operation
  • Experience working in a production/manufacturing or operations environment, with emphasis on manufacturing planning, material flow, and process improvement.
  • Demonstrated results using lean principles, VSM, 5S, etc.
  • Root Cause, and Corrective Action experience

Summary of Essential Job Functions:
  • Implement process improvement methodologies and tools (ex. value stream mapping, problem-solving, visual management, etc.) to reduce manufacturing build hours and quality issues, increase production rates, and remove waste from processes across multiple departments.
  • Create and manage manufacturing BOMs, work instructions, and specifications. You will be required to develop, educate, update, and improve standards for items you are responsible for.
  • Identify, plan, and execute capital equipment, machine, and layout upgrades to meet production demand.
  • Support day-to-day production of the Singer Vehicles and components together with technicians, quality, supply chain.
  • Analyze and disposition manufacturing discrepancies and interface with the quality team on root cause analysis and corrective actions
  • Develop and maintain manufacture and test planning for processes, products, and integration
  • Develop and optimize production processes in alignment with labor cost targets.
  • Responsible for developing and qualifying new processes to take products from design to production.
  • Create and or improve Preventative Maintenance plans for tools, tooling, shop aids, equipment, and facilities for resources that you are responsible for.
  • Create standards and inspection criteria for outsourcing of products.
  • Perform PFMEAs for operation you are responsible for.

Ability requirements:
  • Proficient working with SQL, Excel, or similar data analysis software
  • Possesses strong presentation skills and communicates clearly and professionally at various levels both inside and outside the company.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Catia, Sketchup, Jira
  • Experience with developing, optimizing, and analyzing assembly and test processes
  • Strong project management skills
  • Able to adapt to a fast-paced work environment
  • Experience bringing teams and processes from a development phase to full production
  • Extensive detailed material flow analysis experience to make data-influenced decisions and summarize results to present from techs on the floor to leadership
  • Experience designing greenfield facility layouts and/or material flow strategy
