Job Description
- Monitors daily operations of plumber, electricians, painters and carpenters in setting job priorities and coordinating sequential operation of trades to ensure timely completion of projects, minimize disruption and ascertain that patient needs receive first consideration.
- Manage and maintain TMS PM ticketing system
- Manage and oversee the renovations of various areas with the ability to prioritize projects and completion dates.
- Requires familiarity with the safe operation of all hand and power tools, a knowledge of boilers, heating and cooling systems, ventilation, electrical and plumbing systems.
- Familiarity with Joint Commission, OSHA, Nassau County Fire Marshall regulations, standards and testing.
- Knowledge of Building Management System
- Communicates with all employees of the engineering department, department heads, nursing and administration to ensure the safety and comfort of patients, staff and visitors.
- Recommends engineering departmental policies, procedures and work systems to
- improve efficiency of repairs through early identification, quick response time and thorough execution to ensure the patient comfort, safety and satisfaction.
- Responds in a reasonable time and is available during all off hours to provide instruction by phone or respond directly to emergency situations to maintain the smooth operation of all systems, particularly when it involves patient safety or comfort.
- Demonstrates a positive problem solving approach through quick analyzation, immediate stop gap actions and complete code complying repairs.
- Assigns workload to engineering department staff, taking into consideration priority
- of work and skill of employee, as demonstrated by assignments being completed on time.
- Assesses the number and level of personnel needed to provide quality service and adjusts
- Staffing and assignments accordingly.
- Provides assistance to the Assistant Director of Engineering by recommending personnel needs, adjustments of assignments or staffing. Makes recommendations for alternate methods when the department's resources are being exceeded.
- Ensures compliance with safety, infection control, department and other hospital policies as demonstrated by compliance with established guidelines and policies and with Risk Management reports.
