Under the general supervision of the Vice President of Human Resources, the Manager of Talent Management is responsible for partnering with senior leaders and subject matter experts to align talent solutions to APU’s strategic plan. Solutions include programs, projects, and processes that further high potential identification and development, employee engagement, succession planning, and change management. This individual will direct the development, coordination, and implementation of comprehensive and centralized general training programs that aim to attract, measure, develop and manage the Azusa Pacific University talent pool and evaluate the effectiveness of the organization’s talent strategies. The Manager of Talent Management will work closely with cross-functional partners to identify learning needs and drive scalable and sustainable learning development solutions that facilitate a high-performance culture. The Manager of Talent Management will provide APU employees with learning opportunities to enhance skills, improve effectiveness, develop leadership capability, increase employee engagement, and prepare for career mobility.


Required Education

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as organizational development, communications, business administration, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Required Experience

  • Minimum of 5-7 years of progressively responsible professional experience designing and managing customized learning and development programs in an organizational level.
  • Three or more years of proven experience in a Director of Talent Management or similar role.

Primary Duties/Essential Functions

  • Design, deliver and track skills training for managers and employees on various topics such as leadership development, performance management, effective communication, and individual job performance improvement as needed. Provide coaching to employees in support of their growth and development.
  • Facilitate University, State, and Federal required training including, but not limited to Sexual Harassment Prevention, FERPA and Title IX.
  • Manage the talent review and succession planning process as an ongoing talent pipeline solution. This includes looking for opportunities to improve the process, focusing on increasing business value. This process includes high potential employee identification and development.
  • Skilled in conducting gap analysis, needs assessment, and program development and delivery.
  • Review and assess of current training approaches to identify areas for development.
  • Tracking key metrics to ensure progress is continually made, and partnering with organizational development and subject matter experts to build relevant training and development solutions.
  • Train leaders to improve their skill in discussing talent and development of internal talent pipelines.
  • Prepare and present talent management metrics that inform senior leaders of the state of talent across the University.
  • Conduct strategic planning to produce comprehensive, centralized training programs; create and manage training schedules; and deliver and/or facilitate the delivery of trainings and skill development across various program areas.
  • Act as a change agent: build understanding, enthusiasm, and use influence to gain buy-in from key stakeholders and drive alignment within the organization.
  • Build work plans and work closely with cross-functional partners to support and drive successful execution and implementation of all solutions.
  • Manage all communication aspects throughout the process, working with internal stakeholders for effective implementation. Identify and communicate opportunities to improve the process.
  • Manage and publish Engage! Newsletter within the APU community.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Experience providing frequent, regular performance coaching and encouraging effective behavior for individual and team success.
  • Demonstrated ability to make presentations and lead large group discussions.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion, including knowledge of how to communicate effectively with diverse audiences and of strategies for creating inclusive learning environments.
  • Demonstrated expertise in principles of organizational design and organizational and employee development.
  • Experience delivering employee training programs.
  • Excellent organizational, oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • Demonstrated computer proficiency, ability to use media effectively/knowledge of MS Office Suite, presentation software, including familiarity with performance management and relevant software.

  • Ability to pull, push, bend, grasp, reach and lift up to 15 lbs.
  • Ability to climb stairs as needed throughout the workday.

Compensation

  • Grade 14: $73,724 - $95,841/annually
  • Salary will be commensurate with qualifications, experience, and internal equity.
