AES Distributed Energy is currently seeking a Manager of Construction Field Services to oversee a team of field service personnel and technicians for the construction of PV solar and solar + storage construction projects across the US. The position will be based in Louisville, CO and report to the Director of Construction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • People Management: Establish and manage a team of Commissioning Managers, Construction Managers, Interconnection Analysts, and third-party contractor temp resources to support construction field activities for PV and PV+BESS projects
  • Lead the Project Management team’s coordination of commissioning activities in support of utility witness testing and plant performance testing
  • Lead coordination of the Field Services team with the Construction Project Management team to arrange and oversee field services support on AES DE’s renewable energy projects during construction and commissioning.
  • Lead the coordination of transferring projects from the Field Service team’s commissioning phase to the Asset Operations team for long term plant operations.
  • Lead the coordination of Field Service personnel on-site presence in support of projects in development for due diligence, in construction, or during commissioning.
  • Contracting: Optimize and maintain a qualified list of contractors for distributed generation and utility scale project field services in coordination with the Procurement team. Manage and standardize DE’s form of field service agreement and exhibits and oversee contract negotiations for field services.
  • Develop and oversee the continuous implementation of procedures, standards, and processes for construction inspections, punch-list creation and acceptance, pre-energization testing, and in-service commissioning, and performance testing of PV and PV+BESS projects.
  • Oversee Field Service team project site visit reviews to ensure safety compliance, QA/QC, permit compliance, critical path work progress, utility interconnection progress, and report any issues to the Construction Project Management team and Director of Construction as appropriate.
  • Conduct periodic on-site inspections for quality, safety, and overall execution oversight, directing in-house and 3rd party construction teams. Engage with local stakeholders (permitting agencies, government entities, contractors, landowners, PPA off-takers/customers, etc) as needed to ensure the successful completion of projects
  • Support the transition of projects post-commissioning from the Construction team to the Asset Management team.
  • Coordinate vendor field technician support for projects during commissioning and manage relationships with key vendors and contractors in support of project execution.
  • Establish and manage key performance indicators for construction project inspections and commissioning activities.
  • Lead the development and implementation of a growth strategy to expand the capabilities of field service support for construction and commissioning of PV and PV+BESS projects

Key Requirements:

  • 10+ years of energy generation construction project oversight with at least 5 years of solar PV experience required and 2-5 years of people management preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Construction or related field required, graduate degree in engineering, business, construction or related field preferred.
  • Experience in PV solar and battery storage construction oversight and commissioning coordination required.
  • Ability to build effective contractor relationships and lead a team of remote field personnel
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills, including stakeholder and vendor management and ability to maintain professional and effective exchanges with counterparties
  • Able to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, overseeing a remote based field service support team on a large portfolio of projects simultaneously in support of company project execution goals
  • Excellent organizational, project, planning & time management skills.
  • Ability to establish and manage construction key performance indicators (KPI’s)
  • Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Safety training relevant to solar and battery storage construction and commissioning
  • Demonstrates alignment with AES Values.
  • Strong computer and analytical skills, proficient with MS Office suite, Quickbase, Box, Trello, PlanGrid, and MS Teams
  • Willingness to travel up to 75% as needed in support of project field service activities
  • PMI® PMP Certification a plus
  • Spanish language skills a plus
