Job Description

CIT is looking for a Manager of Audio-Visual Operations, this position is responsible for CIT’s event technical support, media production, conference and classroom room support, AV installation and AV repair service offerings. These service offerings directly support Cornell’s teaching, research, and outreach mission, as well as administrative functions.

The Manager will develop and deploy new and innovative audio-visual services that meet traditional needs and the new needs that have emerged from wide-spread remote and mobile work as well hybrid and online learning modalities.

Responsibilities require ability to work outside of standard university operating hours including nights, holidays, and weekends.

Specific Responsibilities

  • In coordination with the Event Technical Support service manager, The Audio-Visual Operations Manager schedules staff and equipment for AV room checks, online and in-person events, and media production requests.The Manager provides oversight for classes and events at Bailey Hall.The Manager also coordinates operations in support of the Ithaca-Weill Intercampus Collaborations program.

  • The Manager directly supervises a team of regular staff, contractors, and student employees supporting the audio-visual operations.The Manager tales a lead role coordinating technical and production support for Commencement, Convocation, and other major university events.The Manager develops SLAs for audio-visual support.

  • The Manager supports video streaming and conferencing services and contributes to ongoing feature request and product evaluations.As part of a larger service delivery team for these services, the Manager meets regularly with Kaltura, Zoom, and other SaaS vendors.

  • In coordination with the Assistant Director for Video Engineering and Event Services, the Manager will coordinate classroom support for the Spring 2021 semester.This includes hiring, training, scheduling, and supervision of student employee Classroom Assistants (CAs).

  • Responsibilities require ability to work outside of standard university operating hours including nights, holidays, and weekends.

The Manager of Audio-Visual Operations will have the following experiences, capabilities, and attributes:

  • Bachelor's degree Minimum two years of experience recruiting, hiring, and supervising technical staff supporting a complex and dynamic technical environment with 24x7 support requirements.

  • A demonstrated record of strong customer service skills is required.Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.Must be able to develop and implement innovative solutions, services, and products.

  • Able to instruct and guide others as needed to complete operational and project tasks.Can interpret policies and procedures effectively to guide self and others.Able to initiate new activities in support of goals.Understands need to coach and develop staff on an ongoing basis.Provides effective formal feedback on staff performance.

  • Can communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences. Can transform user input into formal requirements. Effective facilitator.Gains trust of stakeholders.Promotes effective and efficient information sharing both within the IT and general campus community.

If you have any of the following, it’s a great bonus:

  • Advanced degree. PMI certification, ITIL certification, CTS certification.

  • Demonstrated success designing, implementing, and supporting enterprise-class IT services in a heterogeneous computing environment, including infrastructure and software as a service (SaaS) that support video collaboration.Advanced knowledge of videoconferencing technologies, voice and data network infrastructure, and audio-visual room design.

  • Experience working with a formal project management methodology is desirable.
