Scope:
The Manager of Maternal & Infant Health reports to the Associate Director of Development of Market Impact. The Manager partners with market staff to translate and share the Mission Impact work in ways that invite donor investment and supporter engagement, leading with mission and empowering local teams to align impact strategies to community needs in the designated area.

This role is responsible for building a pipeline of interest in Mission Investment Opportunities (MIOs) among partners and organizations and securing funding to meet national goals.

Position Responsibilities Leadership:
  • Embody adaptive leadership and support March of Dimes as a leader in MCH in the community/state
  • Adhere to March of Dimes National strategic plan as well as state level strategic alignment plan
  • Model anti-racist behaviors and practices, center community voice and be a systems thinker
  • Utilize data-based decision making
  • Maintain understanding of current implementation challenges and develop solutions to address them
  • Maintain accountability throughout all processes and engagement
  • Development of local mission plans in conjunction with market leadership,
Objectives, Strategies
  • Serve as the “maternal and infant health lead” for the market
  • Together with community partners, and utilizing available data, identify areas of high need/high burden and focus local programming on these populations in assigned market that align with national impact strategy.
  • Participate in the prioritization and action planning process that focuses on eliminating health disparities within maternal and infant health
Program Implementation and Collaboration
  • Where applicable, working with the national mission department, manage implementation of grant funded mission deliverables.
  • Drive collaboration with internal staff partners in the market around mission impact goals.
  • Engage in regular collaboration and communication with market team to ensure mission impact strategies are coordinated into development, communications and marketing, and advocacy activities.

Direct Lobbying:

  • Represent MOD in various capacities with policymakers, volunteers, and other stakeholders. Plan and execute advocacy events.
  • Where applicable, register as a lobbyist consistent with state laws and regulations. Utilize electronic data management tools in order to review and analyze legislative developments.
Donor/Volunteer Development
  • Translate and share mission and/or advocacy impact in ways that invite donor investment and supporter engagement.
  • Support strategy that identifies connections between donor interest and the organization’s impact agenda.
  • Collaborate with staff partners and key volunteers to identify, cultivate and secure program funding, for relevant mission campaigns and mission investment opportunities.
  • Work with market leadership to recruit appropriate MCH volunteers to serve on the local Market Impact board or a sub-committee.
  • Provide timely direction, important opportunities, resources and recognition to volunteers while at the same time relying on their expertise, abilities and willingness to use their networks to drive the goals of the organization.
Measurement, Data Collection and Reporting:
  • Ensure that data is collected, entered, analyzed and communicated effectively
  • Support national evaluation efforts.
  • Provide timely updates and reports on grant activities
Other Duties
  • Perform other duties from time to time in order to ensure the attainment of goals.
Position Qualifications

Previous Experience: 2-4 year’s experience in one or more of the following areas: maternal/child health program planning and implementation; advocacy and government affairs; public health programming; working with disadvantaged populations; community development.

  • Experience in community engagement
  • Familiar with the geography, key institutions and key partners and volunteers
  • Experience convening partners, and conducting meetings with internal and external partners
  • Ability to identify and recruit lead volunteers

  • Education: Four-year degree or equivalent experience, Masters preferred
  • Physical Demands: Involves traveling by car, train or plane to meetings and trainings (20% of time); involves sustained periods of computer work; involves significant phone and web-based discussion; may involve lifting and carrying boxes.
  • Equipment Used: Computer, printer, telephone, copier and fax machine; familiarity working in common software programs and database systems.
