Job Description
Summary

ASM GLOBAL, the leader in privately managed public assembly facilities, has an opening Manager Corporate Sales/Events at Tech Port Center & Arena. The Venue is currently under construction and the Manager Corporate Sales / Events would join the Pre-Opening team with the Grand Opening projected for March 2022. Responsible for managing all aspects of Premium Sales and Sponsorships and the development, implementation and fulfillment of all aspects of sales at Tech Port San Antonio Center & Arena. This key role is responsible for establishing the strategies and philosophies that will drive the sales teams and plans to achieve targeted revenue objectives, ensuring that decisions drive the long-term success of the department and venues. The areas of focus include sponsorships, VIP Packages, premium level season sales, and private event space throughout Tech Port San Antonio Center & Arena.

The Venue is comprised of a 3,000-seat state-of-the-art Technology Event Arena, a LAN Gaming Center, a destination Food Hall with multiple food stations (operated by SAVOR), a Technology Museum, Meeting Spaces and a Collaborative Workspace for emerging technologies and research.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Include the following
  • Represents Tech Port Center as its primary sales representative for local, regional and national events in conjunction with General Manager and ESport Director.
  • Executes and coordinates events
  • Regularly engages destination meeting planners representing the following lines of business:
    • Port San Antonio tenants
    • Military
    • Federal
    • Municipal and various military organizations
    • Chamber of Commerce San Antonio
  • Fosters coordinated sales efforts with other members of San Antonio's hospitality industry
  • Maintains effective relations with user groups and community organizations
  • Contacts prospective user groups and individuals to initiate the sales effort
  • Prepares and delivers verbal presentations to groups of various size and backgrounds
  • Ensures appropriate scheduling balance between outside group events and appropriate community group events
  • Submits regular activity reports
  • Develops follow-through sales systems and procedures and budget submissions
  • Meets specified goals and objectives for facility
  • Other duties as assigned.

Supervisory ResponsibilitiesReports to the General Manager. Directly supervises staff overseeing coordinator communications, Social Media and Digital Marketing. The individual must establish and maintain effective working relationships with the Client/Contract Administrator, tenants, government departments and agencies, sports and entertainment industry, community and civic organizations, to encourage continual and regular use of the facility.
Qualifications
  • Extensive knowledge of brand, sales, and sponsorships with ESport background not required but encouraged to note on resume.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to effectively write a business plan detailing all the products in the premium seating sales department
  • Ability to coordinate the efforts of individuals from multiple business units to accomplish the goals of the company
  • Excellent negotiation skills
  • Ability to consistently prioritize projects, meetings, and fast-changing schedules, while remaining productive and professional

Education and/or Experience
  • A minimum education level of: BA/BS Degree (4-year) (Advanced Degree Preferred)
  • A minimum of 8 Years of related work experience of sales experience in the sports and/or entertainment industry

Skills and Abilities
  • Must be able to perform effectively under significant pressure typically associated with meeting the demands and timetables of the industry.
  • Must demonstrate business acumen with a client/customer service focus, and ability to communicate effectively in both written and public speaking forums.
  • Highly organized with ability to balance multiple priorities and maintain strong attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills both verbal and written
  • Ability to work simultaneously with a broad variety of vested interest groups and to foster a cooperative environment
  • Ability to anticipate problems and implement immediate corrective action
  • Considerable knowledge of event solicitation and presentation, public relations, advertising and media relations and event planning
  • Effective supervisory skills. Ability to deal effectively with human resource and personnel problems; to deal constructively with conflict; to motivate, provide counsel and execute applicable solutions

Computer SkillsTo perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of MS Office and Esports specific technology, including industry leading hardware, software, and peripherals.
