What You’ll Do

We are looking for an experienced network manager for our Corporate Network Engineering team to help guide the design, development, and support of highly scalable and secure networking solutions facilitating communications between employees, applications, and 3rd party solutions. As an integral member of the IT Infrastructure capability, this position will be responsible for day-to-day management and continuous growth of a best in class engineering team dedicated to developing innovative solutions in support of Twitter’s evolving requirements.

The person in this role will:

  • Build an effective team by driving the recruiting and hiring of engineers, conduct performance reviews, and support individual growth. Ensure primary and backup support resources are identified, trained, and in place.

  • Evaluate the performance of each team member, generate development plans and set goals within the context of the corporate policy. Must also motivate, coach, counsel and develop team members within the context of the corporate policies and manage the team’s budget. Ensure that staff has appropriate tools and training.

  • Communicate with Sr Managers/Directors and other corporate management to plan and implement Division Strategic Objectives. The manager also communicates with other IT and client personnel as well as vendors, consultants and auditors to coordinate and implement system projects and enhancements. Attend management sessions to ensure that the team’s operation and long-range goals are coordinated within the larger framework of department, divisional and corporate initiatives.

  • Establish and enforce continuous process improvement practices through the use of concepts such as Knowledge Management, Root-Cause-Analysis, and performance metrics. Research technical, business and theoretical developments in the field to ensure that employees are receiving the most effective support to meet their business objectives.

  • Collaborate with other technical domain architects and engineers to develop technical designs and solution recommendations

  • Partner with other internal engineering teams and third party vendors to develop consistent and scalable solutions

  • Ensure appropriate controls and documentation are followed to meet security, compliance and privacy requirements across all systems

  • Streamline / Standardization of Information and Technology environment to ensure cost effective use of resources and service reliability

  • Develop professional relationships with internal customers and establish effective solutions to meet business requirements and provide regular feedback

  • Evaluation and prioritization of multiple, sometimes conflicting project requests

  • Manage a continuous improvement program whereby technical or user processes are improved/enhanced where it is of tangible value to the business.

  • Provide technical oversight and handle escalations for activities related to the corporate network.

  • Participates in audit processes ensuring timely and accurate responses

  • Participate in design, prototyping, and production deployment of new networking approaches or solutions or updates to existing approaches.

  • Manage network manufacturer and vendor technical relationships in support of service offerings and operational activities.

  • Manage corporate network incident queue in addition to change, and problem queues

  • Accountable for delivering root cause analysis reports as related to corporate network

  • Accountable for continuity of services in the even of a disaster recovery situation

  • Functions as the Business / Customer advocate and seeks to ensure Customer Satisfaction Experienced in evaluating, negotiating and managing partners/vendors in a business applications ecosystem

  • Ability to interpret and convert end user requirements to specifications in a wide range of systems to achieve the desired business results

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, MS/MIS or equivalent work experience

  • Proven experience in overseeing the direction, development, and implementation of Enterprise data technologies and voice communications

  • 5+ years experience managing network engineering team performance and budgets to delivery positive outcomes

  • 7-10 years of experience in Network design, engineering, and operations

  • Experience partnering with security to design solutions that adhere to internal guidelines while meeting business needs

  • Proven ability to work in a cross-functional, fast paced environment managing multiple priorities

  • A collaborative approach to getting work done

  • Experienced in and advocate for SDLC and Change Control Environment

  • Proficiency working within a defined SDLC process

  • Experience working within an Agile development framework

  • Knowledge of connectivity between multiple data centers is a plus.

  • Proficiency in multiple hardware vendor syntax including Juniper, Cisco, and Arista.

  • Experience with one or more enterprise ZeroTrust technology involving design and implementation.

  • Working knowledge of large private backbone and datacenter networks.

  • Advanced knowledge of Enterprise Network Security design, deployment and troubleshooting.

  • Advanced knowledge of network layer security including: Firewalls, 802.1.x, Network Authentication Systems, and VPN/Remote Access solutions.

  • Required Technologies: Data Center network design, Multi-tenant architecture, Spine/leaf configuration, VXLAN, edge routing eBGP, iBGP, OSPF, VRFs, Integration with public cloud providers (GCP / AWS / Azure)
