POSITION PROFILE

This position is under the direction of the Maintenance Manager. The Maintenance Technician position is responsible for performing highly diversified duties with minimal supervision from creating a safe work environment to assisting with production equipment troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining in order to support the achievement of the Knoll’s business goals and objectives.

Daily Duties

  • Repairs and maintains plant equipment such as, but not limited to, hydraulic/pneumatic equipment (cylinders, valves, controls, & sensors), conveyor systems, part fixtures, servo drives/motors, electrical motors, automated manufacturing equipment, bearings, safety sensors, motion controls, sewing/textile equipment, control systems, and PLCs
  • Utilizes proper lockout/tagout, confined space, and hot work permit procedures to maintain a safe environment while following EHS/regulatory procedures
  • Takes ownership of designated equipment, while also working on undesignated equipment
  • Performs Preventative Maintenance tasks effectively and efficiently by the assigned completion date while staying in budget
  • Utilizes mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical drawings/schematics where applicable to assist with troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and/or repairs
  • Utilizes Ladder Logic Schematics to assist with troubleshooting
  • Utilizes tools and shop equipment such as, but not limited to, general hand tools, drill press, lathe, mill, bandsaw, and presses
  • Helps with installing, modifying, and/or updating of equipment as required
  • Creates detailed reports of diagnoses and repairs performed on equipment with CMMS
  • Follows and promotes GMPs and other quality programs related to the maintenance department
  • Helps to maintain an accurate inventory of parts
  • Purchases required parts and works with vendors as required
  • Maintains a clean work/production environment daily and after maintenance work has been performed
  • Participates in Continuous Improvement events including Kaizens
  • Helps to create and maintain TPM programs
  • Required to work other assigned shifts as to meet business needs
  • Performs other duties as required


Required Skills


Minimum Qualifications

  • Able to read, understand, and utilize mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical drawings/schematics
  • Has a forklift license or the willingness/ability to attain and keep one
  • Has welding knowledge/experience or the willingness/ability to become proficient in welding (MIG/TIG)
  • Has a basic understanding of PLC systems & Ladder Logic (Allen Bradley a plus)
  • Possesses interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships within the team and the organization
  • Understands Continuous Improvements and lean methodology and implements/utilizes lean philosophies/techniques
  • Understands and utilizes Microsoft Windows, Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Possesses a high level of urgency and can work with minimal supervision

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiar with CMMS for Preventative Maintenance data input and Inventory Management (Maximo a plus)


Required Experience


Minimum Qualifications

  • Possesses a High school diploma or GED with a technical certification in related field
  • Has 1-5 years of manufacturing or industrial maintenance experience with the ability to work in a team setting or alone
  • Has 1+ year of mechanical, electrical, and PLC experience
  • Has prior troubleshooting and Preventative Maintenance experience
  • Has prior robotic system repair/maintenance experience
  • Has conveyor system repair/maintenance experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Possesses an Associate Degree in maintenance, mechatronics, or an engineering related discipline
  • Has prior laminator, water jet cutting, and/or sewing machine repair/maintenance experience
  • Has used Root Cause analysis methodology
