Job Description

Essential Duties:


  • Maintain company equipment to minimize production downtime.
  • Supervise and assign responsibilities to maintenance personnel as needed.
  • Maintain employee time & attendance records.
  • Manage labor resources including overtime to satisfy the needs of internal customers.
  • Inspect completed work for compliance with code, blueprints, specification, and workmanship standards.
  • Maintain Maintenance work order status on a daily basis and prioritize work orders.
  • Develop cost estimates for special projects, including construction, electrical, plumbing, and installation of offices, fixtures, or equipment.
  • Work with 3rd party suppliers to estimate and perform work as needed.
  • Request capital equipment including writing AFE (Authorization For Expenditure).
  • Develop and deliver safety programs through training, meetings, and written programs to meet and exceed OSHA compliance.
  • Develop Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and train as required.
  • On call 24 hours/7days a week for spills, fires, injuries, natural disasters, security and equipment breakdowns that affect the facility.
  • Track completed monthly safety inspections and hoist inspections.
  • Coordinate the remedy of unsafe working conditions.
  • Coordinate company environmental compliance to ensure compliance with local, state and federal regulations.
  • Program and configure software systems associated with 911 calls, Access Control, Warning System, and Plant Buzzers.
  • Coordinate planned equipment downtime with associated production areas or offices.
  • Assume the responsibilities of the Facilities Manager in their absence.
  • Create preventive maintenance (PM) tasks and monitor PM completions on assigned tasks.
  • Create Lock out Tag out procedures and monitor for compliance.
  • Be knowledgeable of and ensure all company policies are being followed.
  • Facilitate cross training of employees for flexibility and to ensure manpower coverage on all production shifts.
  • Promote the growth and development of maintenance employees – guide, coach, appraise, and discipline employees as appropriate.
  • Promote, facilitate, and maintain your team’s ability to perform at a high level.
  • Conduct employee performance appraisals as required.
  • Conduct interviews for prospective employees.
  • Conduct regular department employee meetings as required.
  • Serve as an alternate Emergency Coordinator for Hazardous Waste Management.
    • Duties Include:
  • Know and implement all aspects of the Vactor Contingency Plan (RPCC Plan).
  • Know the operations and activities of the facility.
  • Location and characteristics of Hazardous Waste.
  • Location of records.
  • Facility layout.
  • Complete an Annual Hazardous Waste Management Training
  • Proper labeling, storage and handling of Hazardous Waste.
  • Respond to spills, fire, or explosions of Hazardous Waste.
  • Complete and maintain waste manifest, reports or other records.
  • Oversee Weekly inspect of Hazardous Waste accumulation areas.
  • Oversee Communication and/or alarm systems.
  • Shutdown of operations.
  • Oversee Annual Hazardous Waste Management Training for all affected employees.
  • Maintain a HAZWOPER Certification at the First Responder Operations Level.
  • Marginal Duties:
  • Supervise other areas when required
  • Open/close the plant when required
  • Travel when required
  • Perform other duties, assignments, and special projects that may be required.
  • Minimum Qualifications (Education and/or Experience):
  • High School Diploma required. Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Must have proven leadership and supervisory experience.
  • 3 Years experience or equivalent training in Industrial Safety.
  • 1 Year experience or equivalent training in industrial environmental issues.
  • Computer skills must include Email, MS Excel, MS Word.
  • Preferred software experience includes JD Edwards and AutoCAD.
  • 1 Year experience or equivalent training in mechanical, electrical and hydraulic applications.
  • Electrical competencies must include 480 Volt 3 Phase electrical systems.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and blueprint reading skill are required.
  • Knowledge and experience in fabrication, welding, material handling, rigging, assembly and painting processes.
  • Qualifications (Other Skills and Abilities):
  • Strong time management skills
  • Candidate must be able to simultaneously manage multiple projects.
  • Must be able to work with others in order to solve problems.
  • Ability to foresee potential problems in safety, environmental and maintenance issues based on experience and knowledge.
  • Ability to seek out new ideas and promote continuous improvement.
  • Must be familiar with the equipment and processes in the department.
  • Must be well organized and have good communication and leadership skills with a proven track record of problem-solving skills and cost management.
