Overview:
A Planner/Scheduler is an essential position within any maintenance organization and directly affects the utilization of your maintenance labor, Craft utilization and overall equipment availability.
Planning serves needs of entire team by accurately planning complex jobs, assuring required parts are available and properly estimating labor hours required.
Scheduling serves needs of entire team by accurately scheduling the required work. Creating effective work teams and assuring any needed pre-tasks are accomplished prior to starting main task.
Specific Responsibilities:
Accurately scheduling the required work for technical staff.
Creates Safe work plans/pre job safety analysis for all tasks.
Tech Utilization is a key metric for both Planner/Scheduler.
Creating effective work teams to expedite larger tasks.
Assuring needed pre-tasks are accomplished prior to starting main task.
Pull and stage parts for jobs prior to job start date.
Create a Weekend work order schedule and meet with team to discuss.
Work with Maintenance Supervisors closely to assure task completion.
Utilize outside vendors when required to complete tasks.
Manage W/O backlog.
Correctly utilize technical staff by skill set to get greatest benefit from team.
Reviews all approved work orders for readiness.
Plans the work by accurately assigning estimated hours and staff level.
Assigns Millwrights to Kitting parts for planned Work Orders/assures Kits are correct, sealed, and ready to use.
Assures required parts to complete the W/O are on hand at time of work order starting.
Enters requisitions for parts that are not on hand for active W/Os.
Expedite parts as needed for equipment downtime emergencies.
Looks at stocking levels for high use items and recommends store stock items and levels.
Reviews completed PMs and all work orders returned with additional work required, creates follow up work orders and plans them for scheduling.
Provides equipment details, PM recommendations to reliability manager for PM update or new PM creation (i.e., new equipment installation).
Adds to or creates new PM procedures as required in CMMS system.
Verifies PM changes or PM additions are created and active in CMMS for planning.
Adds items to the equipment Bill of Materials as discovered.
Create Daily Routes for all required assets.
Create Runtime work – TPM.
Distribute and create standard reports and metrics.
Create and run all scheduling meetings (cadence).
5S and visual Factory objectives
Training of system to others for a creation of sustainable system
Create training manual on Scheduling and Planning position
Required Skills:
The right candidate for this role should have detailed technical knowledge and understanding of lumber equipment, Lumber vendors and advanced reliability maintenance experience and education.
Combined experience of hands-on maintenance & maintenance planning/scheduling
Candidate should be proficient with many CMMS systems, SAP, Excel, Word, MS Office, Outlook and have excellent technical writing skills.
Experience with managing employees time, creating schedules and working in a fast-paced technical environment are all required as part of this position.
