Your Role:

The Maintenance Manager at MilliporeSigma in Milwaukee, WI will manage the team that maintains the facilities and equipment. This role is responsible for coordination of the technical maintenance function supporting all facilities, including office and operational areas. This includes responsibilities in maintenance, repair, metrology, change management, and preventative maintenance of equipment and facilities to ensure that the areas are maintained in accordance with all safety, quality, cGMP, and applicable regulatory requirements.


  • Establish strong collaborative relationships with all departments within the organization to plan and schedule facility maintenance commitments and deliver results on schedule.
  • Plan, schedule, direct, and report all activities as it relates to maintenance repairs. This includes all demand, preventative, and predictive activities. Track and trend data as documented in SAP PM.
  • Communicate work priorities to the maintenance team and track performance through department-specific metrics.
  • Identify, qualify, and oversee contractors needed to perform specialty work, or to address high volume workloads such as during planned shutdowns.
  • Manage and support Preventative Maintenance programs, planned facility shutdowns, and proactive equipment reliability assessments to ensure maximum plant capacity.
  • Provide strong leadership to maintenance team including hiring, developing, and retaining skilled talent. Manage performance of the team, write performance reviews, and provide communication through department and 1:1 meetings with all team members.
  • Assist in the coordination and construction of engineering projects within the site as needed.
  • Provide leadership and organize departmental staff to meet deadlines without compromising safety or quality.
  • Ensure all documentation, including department specific SOPs, calibration records, change controls, deviations, and CAPA are created and maintained to GMP standards.
  • Ensure appropriate technical training is provided for maintenance personnel.
  • Maintain spare parts inventory and shop equipment, as well as maintain safe and organized work areas by implementing 6S.
  • Use department resources efficiently and work within the departmental budget.

Physical Attributes:
  • May work near moving mechanical parts or live electrical systems while wearing appropriate protective gear, (hard hats, glasses/goggles, chemical resistant suits, gloves, safety shoes) and other personal protection equipment.
  • May work in high, precarious places.
  • May involve lifting of up to 50 pounds unassisted and greater than 50 pounds with assistance.


Who You Are

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline.
  • 8+ years of relevant experience
  • Leadership experience in a manufacturing or logistics setting.
  • Experience in a GMP, ISO-certified, or similarly regulated environment.
  • Project management experience.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience supervising a maintenance team in a manufacturing or logistics setting.
  • Experience leading a team comprised of different tradesmen.
  • Understanding of and experience maintaining manufacturing equipment and systems, as well as typical support utilities such as HVAC, water purification, and process heating/cooling.
  • Green belt or other operational excellence certification.
  • High degree of proficiency with SAP or a similar CMMS.
  • Strong leadership, personnel development, and team building skills.
  • Excellent problem solving and root cause analysis capabilities.
  • Expert knowledge of policies, procedures, and management practices.
  • Ability to interpret GMP, PSM and OSHA code or standards documents.
  • Advanced reading, writing, math, and computer skills.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills.
  • Expert-level planning and scheduling capabilities.
  • Advanced performance analysis and feedback abilities.
