Georgia-Pacific is seeking a Maintenance Leader to join our Containerboard team in Monticello, Mississippi. Our facility is located an hour South of Jackson, MS and an hour Northwest of Hattiesburg, MS. Georgia Pacific Monticello is a stable employer on 2,200 acres which employs 450 employees.

The Maintenance Leader is responsible for planning, directing, and guiding the business goals, plans, and processes for the maintenance department and reports to the Mill Manager. This leader will use knowledge to develop and carry out objectives, solve problems, and be able to respond to short-term as well as long term department mill goals.

The successful candidate will provide leadership and direction to the maintenance department to ensure that the mill maintenance is meeting the objectives in safety, quality, cost, and customer service. The candidate will lead and support preventative maintenance programs, and provide technical support for troubleshooting, to minimize downtime and maximize process efficiencies. Help employees understand who their customers are and how their work directly impacts spending and mill profits/loses.

What You Will Do In Your Role

  • Developing key business relationships and being a strategic part of the mill leadership team
  • Partnering closely with Operations Manager to advance mill priorities and achieve results
  • Having accountability for employee and organizational development plans and people management strategies.
  • Exhibiting strong leadership skills to motivate and develop a team of salaried and hourly employees to continuously improve performance of the business
  • Demonstrate functional leadership skills to engage a workforce with a diverse background of knowledge & experience
  • Foster and develop culture based on our Market Based Management (MBM®) Philosophy
  • Demonstrating strong functional knowledge of maintaining equipment used in the paper manufacturing process
  • Responsibility for establishing and administering maintenance expenses and capital work and managing against plans including explanation of variances
  • Ensuring the facility’s electrical and mechanical systems are operating reliably, efficiently, and compliant with all safety guidelines and government regulations
  • Working with maintenance and oversight of power generation and incoming power systems

The Experience You Will BringRequirements:

  • Ten years of experience in industrial management and manufacturing, production operations management or military experience
  • Five years or more as a maintenance and/or reliability leader in a large scale industrial, manufacturing or military environment
  • Previous experience analyzing department financial data (i.e.- budgets, cost analysis, and/or capital expenses)

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Industrial Management, Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical Engineering or any related technical field
  • Experience in the Pulp and Paper industry or similar large scale process production environment (i.e. chemical manufacturing, municipal power plants, refineries)
  • Experience in Union environment
  • Industrial electrical experience
  • Computerized Management Maintenance System (CMMS) experience (i.e.- Passport, Maximo, SAP etc.)
  • Experience implementing precision maintenance techniques to improve equipment reliability
  • Experience with repairing/troubleshooting pumps, gearboxes, paper machine rolls, mechanical drive systems (conveyors, line shafts, drag chains), steam turbines, PLCs, high voltage (480V), & AC/DC drives
  • Experience leading improvement efforts in reliability, predictive and preventative maintenance
  • Experience leading root cause failure analysis
