Job Description

At Freddie Mac, you will do important work to build a better housing finance system and you’ll be part of a team helping to make homeownership and rental housing more accessible and affordable across the nation.

Employees, contingent workers and visitors are no longer required to show proof of vaccination to be on-site. Effective January 2023, Freddie Mac’s hybrid work arrangement is 3 days in the office (specifically Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday).

Freddie Mac has an exciting opportunity for a mainframe developer to add to our existing servicing team who is helping build solutions that can help millions of Americans around the country to retain and afford housing during the time of pandemic and beyond. We are seeking a motivated professional with advanced programming skills in the mainframe environment. Your responsibilities will include systems analysis, software development, testing, and production incident analysis and resolution. This position does include an on-call rotation. Your Impact:

  • Understand business needs and lead or participate in Requirements Analysis and Design sessions

  • Provide development support that includes analysis, design, coding,testing, and deployment

  • Provide rotating on-call support of the servicing mainframe applications

  • Facilitate meetings with business to describe requirements solutions and encourage dialog

  • Contribute to the team that completes manual and automated testing activities

  • Solve production incidents and provide quick resolution

  • Work with interfacing application and infrastructure teams

  • Foster teamwork across the development group

Qualifications:

  • BS / BA with Computer Science or Information Technology, or related field

  • 5- 10 years of experience in mainframe technologies to include: CICS, JCL, COBOL, SAS, Jobtrac Scheduler, ISPW, VSAM, and mainframe utilities

  • At least 5 years of experience in databases management: IMS, DB2, with advanced SQL knowledge

  • Ability to analyze complex programs, job schedules, and business logic across the mainframe domain

  • Demonstrated/strong knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 products

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Hands on experience in Unix platform

  • Agile, Kanban or SCRUM frameworks knowledge a plus
