Job Description
Overview: We are looking for a Mail Clerk to help us with the shipping and receiving of mail in a timely, efficient, and confidential manner. While our preferred candidate has mailroom experience, we are willing to work with applicants that have organizational skills and a strong work ethic. Someone that can work in an open office environment. You will use specialized equipment for scanning, metering, and delivering important documents and letters. You are also responsible for separating mail and packages into the appropriate categories for processing. Your duties are time-sensitive, so we need someone who can work quickly and efficiently throughout the work day. You also need data entry skills to log and track the mail. Participates in planning of programs, policies or objectives for own work group and department.Responsibilities: Driving a County vehicle. Performs duties in all weather conditions. Retrieves mail from post office and other County buildings. Scans and sorts incoming mail. Delivers mail to mail boxes at main location and offsite mail rooms. Separates, packages, and sends outgoing mail and packages. Scans and tracks all shipments and deliveries that require a signature. Creates shipping labels for courier packages online. Performs other mail duties: copying, tabbing, folding, labeling, and stuffing of envelopes. Participates in activities and duties related to emergency management during a local state of disaster as directed by appropriate county managers.Qualifications: High School Diploma/GED; Must possess a valid Texas driver’s license/vehicle liability. Ability to complete a Defensive driving course every 3 years. Mailroom experience (preferred). Possess computer knowledge and data entry skills. Possess organizational skills and ability to prioritize workload. Possess physical stamina—standing for long periods of time, lifting, and pushing heavy items. Must have strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to retain and perform repeated information and actions. Great interpersonal skills to deal effectively with others and the ability to function in a fluctuating work environment. Must be willing and able to drive daily to off-site locations and facilities. Availability to work on Saturday for Special Election mail.
SALARY RANGE: Administrative/Clerical Grade 3, $962.40 - $1,132.80 biweekly based on applicants qualifications CLOSING DATE: Upon filling position
