Far Out Solutions in Orlando, FL is looking for one low voltage project manager to join our 65 person strong team. We are located on 8000 S Orange Ave Suite 103. Our ideal candidate is a self-starter, punctual, and reliable.
Responsibilities
- Review and evaluate project plans and specifications, bid documents, RFP, IFB, Design Build,
and other relevant project documents to identify what is needed for a project and to create a cost estimate and technical/ cost proposal.
- Calculate the cost of low voltage electrical construction based on reviewing and evaluating available documents and/or walking the site.
- Analyze project for value engineering options while taking into account specific job conditions that may affect labor and material to be purchased and installed.
- Identify any inconsistent issues, conflicts, and other problems in the bid documents.
- Identify strategies to create bid advantages.
- Anticipate potential problems and devise solutions proactively.
- Prepare “RFI” questions.
- Assist with preparation of submittals for bid projects.
- Identify new business opportunities and projects to bid. Design cabling schematics, layout of IDF, MDF and MPOE.
- Knowledge of building codes and wiring standards, including BICSI guidelines and EIA/TIA standards.
- Eligible candidates will be proficient in all copper and fiber optic cabling as well as have a knowledge of CCTV, PA, camera systems, and wireless access systems.
- Meet bid submittal deadlines.
- Request material and equipment quotes from vendors and equipment suppliers.
- Reviews quotes to confirm adherence to quote requests and accuracy of quotes received.
- Develops and maintains a positive relationship with vendors.
- Prepares bid documents including specific scope letter for each project, “Blue Sheets” and “Evaluations” with adjustments for buy-outs, labor rate, productivity, etc.
- Assist in preparing budget pricing.
- Attend estimating/sales meetings, and project meetings to discuss bid status, and present/resolve issues.
- May perform job walks to ensure that any field conditions have been observed that may affect the construction, may impact the prospective bid, and/or may impact the pre-construction designs and the build services.
- Keeps Company management, project management, clients, general contractors, and all others involved in projects current on bid progress.
- Maintains and develops an excellent relationship with clients; including electrical and general contractors.
Qualifications
- 5+ or more years of low voltage estimating experience.
- Well-versed in the technology, equipment and methods related to network services,
Audio/Visual installation, infrastructure cabling, fiber optics, wireless access points, service/maintenance contracts and material parts.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
- Ability to listen and understand the customer’s needs and budget constraints.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Accuracy at all times.
- Ability to respond quickly and effectively under pressure and deadlines.
- Hard work ethic coupled with energy and motivation to grow professionally.
- Ensures company has a healthy backlog of work.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting drawings required; AutoCAD or other drafting software experience is preferred.
- Professional appearance and strong written and verbal communication skills required.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Ability to travel to site walks and evaluate projects and network with contractors.
- Organized with project information and the ability to complete required company documents regarding bid information.

Ability to work independently and closely with the Construction Director
- Ability to maintain organized system of physical and digital records.
- Able to lift and move up to 50lbs.
- Able to stand, sit and walk for extended periods of time.
- Able to type at computer and talk on phone for extended periods of time.
- Able to use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hand and arms and talk or hear.
- Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
- The employee is occasionally required to stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch.
- Being physically present at the office with face-to-face contact is an essential function of this job.
- Drug testing and background check (DOJ/Live Scan) at time of hire required.
