Our Lady of Mount Carmel is seeking a dynamic, enthusiastic, passionte long-term substitute teacher for one of their 1st grade classes for the 2021-2022 school year.

Job Description

The substitute teacher will monitor students and their learning in the absence of the regular teacher. The substitute will maintain a positive learning environment in the classroom and coordinate with another 3rd grade teacher to develop lesson plans.

Responsibilities for Substitute Teacher
  • Develop and Implement lesson plans, and consult with principal or other responsible staff as needed.
  • Maintain a clean, respectful, and orderly classroom, and follow classroom and school procedures as directed by the school
  • Communicate in a friendly, professional and positive manner towards parents, students, and administrators
  • Keep records on attendance, accidents and incidents
  • Ensure the safety of students at all times
  • Keep a record for the regular teacher describing what the class accomplished.

Qualifications
  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree is required
  • 1-3 years teaching experience preferred
  • Preference given to applicants holding a valid IL SUB or PEL license
  • Experience working with children and students preferred
  • Ability to follow and enforce rules, policies and procedures
  • Ability to communicate comfortably (written and orally) with students, parents/guardians, administrators and others
  • Ability to support the mission of the school
  • Must be punctual and reliable
  • Must meet all requirements of application process including background check

Working Conditions
Daily movement up and down stairs transitioning students to and from specials classes and entry/dismissal.

It is a Maternity leave sub for 1st grade starting the first week of October and lasting 12 weeks. They are looking for someone with sub licensure and preferably a little exp.
