Library Associate

Rutherford Public Library seeks a friendly, customer service-oriented individual to fill the part-time role of Library Associate in our Circulation department. Required shifts include Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays 11am-3pm and one Saturday a month from 10am-4pm . Flexibility to cover additional shifts is highly desirable.

Job duties include:

• Assisting patrons in all areas of circulation, such as checking items in and out, placing requests, processing library card applications, and answering account questions
• Shelving returned materials
• Pulling and processing holds
• Answering phones
• Providing book and movie recommendations
• Special projects as assigned

This position requires a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and some customer service experience. Library experience is helpful, but we are willing to train the right person. The ideal candidate will be comfortable with technology, able to work well as part of a team, and passionate about serving others. Salary is $14.00/hour, and this role includes paid holidays, sick, and vacation time.
