Job DescriptionPosition Summary:This position is responsible for providing excellent library customer service to the University of Tulsa. As the front face of the McFarlin Library, this position serves the campus by processing materials for checkout and return, providing basic research assistance, shelving materials, and overseeing library student workers’ evening and weekend shifts. The position also helps in other areas when needed. This position must be able to work nights and weekends. Characteristic Duties:Job Activities
  • Act as building supervisor during evening and weekend shifts, overseeing student employees and facility operations.
  • Provide exceptional customer service at the Library’s primary public service desk and throughout the Library building, including assistance with directions, basic research (e.g., looking up books), and the Library’s website.
  • Process materials at the Library’s primary public services desk, including checkouts, returns, reserves, holds, recalls, and interlibrary loans.
  • Sort, shelve, and shift materials within the Library’s physical collection.
  • Supervise the opening and closing of the building as needed.
  • Participate in other Library departments, such as Interlibrary Loan and Instruction, as needed.

Minimum QualificationsDemonstrated excellence providing customer service and solving problems. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Must be able to work nights and weekends. Must be able to work flexible schedule. Experience with personal computers. Physical ability to push carts of books, shift books, and shelve materials. High school diploma.
