We are currently in search of a Legal & Regulatory Specialist to join our Legal & Regulatory team! The Legal & Regulatory Specialist is responsible for supporting the efforts and initiatives of the Legal & Regulatory department. The Legal & Regulatory Specialist will assist in the creation and management of legal documents, legal requests forms, contracts, charitable and solicitation registrations, reporting obligations and regulatory compliance. This position will report directly to the Sr. Director of Legal & Regulatory.
Job Requirements:
Education
Associates degree preferred. High school diploma or GED required
Experience
3+ years of administrative management experience or its equivalent in a professional office environment required
Experience drafting legal contracts and/or redlining/tracking changes required
Ability to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high attention to detail and confidentiality required
Excellent communication skills with the ability to express self effectively and concisely, both orally and in writing, required
Experience establishing and maintaining a comprehensive record-keeping and filing system in both paper and electronic form required
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with the public and staff tactfully and effectively required
Experience with Microsoft Office products Word, Outlook, Excel, SharePoint required
Experience in non-profit work preferred
Any combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of this job may be considered.
Licenses/Certifications:
Paralegal Certification preferred or working towards Paralegal Certification
Essential Functions:
Assist in the creation and management of legal documents, contracts, charitable and solicitation registrations, reporting obligations and regulatory compliance.
Provide guidance and exceptional customer service to internal staff members and their respective departments to ensure that Legal & Regulatory policies, guidelines, and requirements are adhered to
Track and respond to inquiries concerning legal matters, contracts, projects, and various legal topics
Research state statutes and applicable regulations and guidelines pertaining to charitable solicitation and process.
Responsible for the creation, preparation, redlining, and processing of legal documents
Proactively remain up to date on current laws as related to solicitation.
Maintain strict confidentiality with all matters concerning Feed the Children and the Legal & Regulatory Services Department
Oversee the organization and management of a paper and electronic filing system for confidential documents
Manage the review, sorting, docketing and follow up processes of incoming correspondence and legal requests
Ensures schedules are communicated and deadlines are met
Maintains office supplies and ordering replacements when required
Comply with the applicable records retention provisions under the guidance of the Sr. Director
Under management direction, works with external and in-house resources to help meet department and organization objectives
Maintains regular attendance and punctuality which are critical in order to complete the day-to-day tasks of this position
