Who are you?

We’re looking for our first legal hire to our new legal tech team working directly with Leapwork’s Head of Legal.

In addition to being a technical commercial skilled lawyer, we’re looking for a pragmatist who can balance risk and imperfection, is a leader in their field, and is passionate about business growth.

You enjoy a challenge and are energized by the many challenges you will face as a in house legal counsel working in a fast-growing scale-up!

The job

You will be setting up and scaling the legal function in the US, designing new processes and support the implementation of our new compliance program, all to enable the business to reach its growth targets. Your main market will be US but will work cross jurisdictional together with the rest of the Legal team.

On a day to day basis, you’ll be multi-tasking across commercial, IP, tech, procurement, and compliance related matters.

You will be working closely with the management team and founders of the business to help the business to continue expanding the business in US.

Responsibilities

  • working closely with management team to advise on legal matters and manage external counsel effectively
  • developing and maintaining expertise in privacy, data protection and data security laws, including keeping track of enforcement actions, current good industry practice and regulatory guidance and evaluating their impact on the company’s operations
  • drafting and reviewing different types of contracts including manage general legal queries
  • supporting our People department and work with outside counsel to ensure employee contracts, handbooks and employment policies and process are kept updated
  • working closely with commercial, strategy and operational teams and provide commercial minded legal support.
  • research on local legislation and regulatory frameworks

What you’ll need

This is a mid-level legal role, with plenty of room for development and progression, and an emphasis on continuing development of technical legal skills. We would prefer if you had at least 2-3 years of experience working as a lawyer.

In addition, you may have all or some of the following:

  • Experience with drafting and negotiating software contracts
  • Experience working in a in-house role in a software company or at a high-growth tech company
  • Interest in and/or working knowledge of information security, data privacy and contract negotiations
  • Strong business acumen and ability to take a pragmatic approach to legal risk and advise the business accordingly
  • Skilled at collaborating with stakeholders across all levels of the business
  • Openness and enthusiasm for learning about and taking on new areas of law
  • Great communication and interpersonal skills
  • Open for working across jurisdictions, ability to spot red flags and instruct the business
