Job Summary

Responsible for all aspects of the installation, maintenance, inspection, operation and repair of the plumbing systems. Advanced level knowledge requiring extensive experience, skills and training. Assists with the supervision of staff.

Responsibilities
  • Inspects buildings, fixtures, machines and other structural and/or mechanical units
  • Performs minor and preventative maintenance
  • Assists other technicians on emergency and corrective maintenance
  • Performs independent and high-level complex maintenance work including detection and correction of plumbing systems
  • Maintains and repairs sewage and storm water systems including runoff, acids, solvents; on equipment such as dilution basins, grease traps and neutralization tanks
  • Performs excavation, trench protection and backfilling as required by maintenance and installation work
  • Performs brazing, soldering, threading, compression joints, flaring and other methods common to the trade
  • Inspects and maintains sprinkler systems and fire suppression systems
  • Performs minor installation or modification work on liquid, gas and steam piping
  • Works on active plumbing systems, energized and de-energized equipment in compliance with regulatory safety standards
  • Schedules of in house contracting work for facilities operations projects and repairs as needed
  • Accurately maintains equipment inventory and historical records
Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
High School diploma or equivalent

Other Required Qualifications
Current, valid and unrestricted Georgia driver's license

Required Experience
Four (4) years related work experience

Preferred Qualifications

Additional Preferred Qualifications
ICC Plumbing Inspector Certificate or ICC Plans Examiner Certification (Active)

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematic drawing charts and technical instructions
  • Able to operate heavy machinery and plumbing equipment and/or tools
  • Able to operate and work in extreme temperatures and heights including aerial lifts and ladders
  • Knowledge of the methods, practices, tools, equipment and materials, used in a variety of building and mechanical trades
  • Knowledge of occupational hazards and necessary safety precautions in the use of tools and equipment
  • Able to diagnose malfunctions and defects in equipment; determine the appropriate corrective measures
  • Ability to understand and comply with building, electrical, fire, and plumbing codes and other technical standards and specifications as required
  • Willingness to build upon existing knowledge in technical application of maintenance work
  • Knowledge of appropriate safety and regulatory standards
  • Advanced working knowledge of plumbing and fire suppression systems
  • Ability to work with and maintain hand tools in a safe manner
  • Ability to use and understand all meters/test equipment related to plumbing maintenance components
  • Able to handle multiple tasks or projects at one time meeting assigned deadlines
  • Excellent interpersonal, initiative, teamwork, problem solving, independent judgment, organization, communication (verbal and written), time management, project management and presentation skills
  • Proficient with computer applications and programs associated with the position (i.e. Microsoft Office suite)
  • Strong attention to detail and follow up skills
  • Strong customer service skills and phone and e-mail etiquette
