Stratton Mountain is looking for Lift Leads to assist with the organization and management of the Lift Operations team for the winter season.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Lift Lead assists with the organization and management of the Lift Operations team for the winter season. Lift Leads work alongside the supervisors and will be responsible for the day-to-day supervision of Lift Operators. Responsibilities include maze construction, conditions of the lift area, guest satisfaction and most importantly, maintaining a safety conscious and happy work environment for our team of Lift Operators and Validators.

This position requires a lot of time on the snow and moving around the mountain. Applicants should possess and be able to maintain a high level of physical fitness and mental endurance throughout all winter conditions. This position is a full-time position offered from mid-November through mid-April. Scheduling availability must include weekends and holidays.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Be a role model to all employees; lead by example
  • Be a strong skier/rider
  • Provide exceptional customer service at all times
  • Be able to work outside in harsh weather conditions
  • Be able to react quickly to changes in workforce and be willing to step into any lift position as needed
  • Be proficient in organizational management
  • Possess excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Complete understanding of ski lift operations

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS

  • At least 18 years of age
  • Reliable transportation to/from work
  • Able to work outside for long periods of time in inclement weather
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds
  • Prior lift operations experience is required
  • Ability to make eye contact, engage in conversation and smile
  • Ability to independently solve problems and resolve customer complaints
  • Conscientious and motivated to provide great customer service
  • Team Player

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS

This position will be required to work weekends and holidays.

Mountain Environment:

  • The primary physical environment in which this position works is out of doors with a high exposure level to cold, snow, wind, rain, bugs, sun, high altitude, extreme heights, lightning, etc.
  • The degree of strenuous activity within the job is considered to be high. Often lifting a weight of 50 pounds throughout the day is common.
  • Additional strenuous physical activity may include walking or hiking upon uneven, challenging terrain with heavy tools or equipment.
  • Exposure to: Chemicals required for cleaning, de-greasing, and painting Ultra Violet radiation from the sun enhanced through lack of atmospheric filtration at work altitude. Fumes produced in activities ranging from cleaning to painting to fabrication of metal products. Noise generated by snowmobiles, lift equipment, and tools may require hearing protection to be worn.
  • Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with guests, supervisors and other employees.
  • Vision occurs continuously with the most common visual functions being those of near vision and depth perception.
