Under the director of the Production Chef and the Dining Room Supervisor, the Lead Food Service Worker takes lead with ensuring the cleanliness and maintenance of dishes, glasses, silverware, pots and pans, floors, and equipment.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Completes daily and weekly cleaning assignments as scheduled. Works with other Food Service Workers to ensure productivity during assigned time.
  • Makes recommends to the Dining Room Supervisor for improvements to work flow and tasks and any concerns with the quality of work.
  • Follows proper sanitary procedures when washing dishes, pots and pans, and clean and maintain dish machine.
  • Completes special assignments and non-routine tasks in a timely manner. Seeks out additional assignments in order to assist chefs, supervisors and waitstaff as needed. Serves as the point person for all Food Service functions to ensure efficient operations.
  • Assists chefs with prep work and checks daily and weekly menus and pulls out desserts as needed, and bake off desserts as needed. Communicates with chefs at start of day to ensure all items are available for all three meals and to maintain proper flow of work.
  • Adheres to all safety procedures.
  • Attends all mandatory education events.
  • Turns on all kitchen equipment, unlock all doors. Ensures all items for the Chef line is prepped in advance and all breakfast items are stocked.
  • Prepares and cooks daily fresh pastry, bacon and sausage for breakfast shift and organizes all “to go” items.
  • Ensures all stock that arrives is unloaded timely and organized, labeled and rotated appropriately. Communicates to Executive Sous Chef all necessary inventory.
  • Organizes all walk in coolers and freezers. Implements systems for inventory to ensure efficient and effective operations and communicates to Chefs when necessary.
  • Acts as primary phone dispatcher communicating with all Residents and staff regarding “to go” meals throughout the day.
  • Ensures all cardboard from orders to recycled and disposed of in proper receptacles.


Minimum Qualifications:

Education: No minimal requirement

Experience: At least one year of experience in food service.

Key Competencies: Must be able to read and write instructions in English. Basic computer skills. Customer Service skills and supplementary hospitality training are strongly preferred.
