Position description

Receives, stores, collects, distributes, tracks, and transports linen (sterile, clean and/or soiled) throughout the Medical Center in a safe and efficient manner. Operates equipment safely and correctly. May be assigned to perform linen functions at off-site, Mayo locations, i.e. NW Clinic. Assists supervisor in managing work flow. Utilizes computer and hand held units for tracking of linen. Monitors linen and other QA/QC requirements. May be assigned to a linen delivery route and driving a 28' truck with lift gate. Must operate the truck in a safe manner and abide by all Minnesota driving laws. Driving responsibilities include DOT inspections, monitoring physical condition of the truck, filling truck with gas.

Completes other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required

Additional qualifications

Demonstrated leadership skills required. Complete understanding and demonstrated proficiency of all area work tasks. Highly developed oral and written communication skills and interpersonal relation skills. Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, and computer data entry skills is desired. This job requires movement of heavy carts (up to 400 pounds) and operation of other mechanical equipment. Must be able to read, write, and understand English. Driving a commercial motor vehicle requires linen handlers to complete all required forms and be physically qualified through a medical certificate or through the status of their driver's license. Medical certification is provided through Mayo Occupational Health.

License or certification

This position requires a valid Minnesota driver's license.

Compensation Detail

Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended. The minimum pay rate is $16.92 per hour.
