SUMMARY: The contractor will provide technical laboratory support in the tasks of maintaining an ISO Guide 34 accredited reference materials producer of microbial materials. This includes, but is not limited to, strain accession, production of seed and production material, strain characterization studies, inventory management, and distribution activities. Additional research activities may be included in this scope.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform PCR
  • Perform Microarray analysis
  • Perform next generation sequencing
  • Prepare written work on related research
  • Work in BSL 2/3 laboratories

SUPERVISORY/MANAGEMENT AUTHORITY

  • This position will not have supervisory authority.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in a science discipline
  • Preferred minimum of 2 years’ experience in a laboratory
  • US citizenship

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Experience in Microbiology Techniques
  • Experience with Molecular and Immunological Techniques
  • Experience with PCR analysis
  • Experience with sequencing is helpful
  • Willingness to learn new skills
  • Attention to details; accurate record keeping
  • Willingness to work in BSL-2/3 high containment laboratories
  • Maintain a clean, safe laboratory environment
  • Ability to work in a matrixed, team-oriented environment involving multiple projects
  • Ability to secure and maintain a security clearance and enrollment in the Biosurety Personnel Reliability Program (BPRP)
  • Preferred prior clinical diagnostics and regulatory laboratory experience
  • Motivated team player
  • Excellent communication skills

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Work is conducted in a climate-controlled office or laboratory
