Department: Labor and Delivery/ L&D

Position Summary: The Registered Nurse as a Labor and Delivery Nurse performs the functions of assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating care for patients. Meets Standards of Care and Standards of Practice. Supervises assigned personnel. Promotes collaboration with physicians and personnel of other departments. Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to patients served. Demonstrates knowledge of principles of growth and development over life span and possesses ability to assess data reflective of patient status and interpret appropriate information needed to identify patient requirements relative to his/her age specific needs. Provides care needed as described in department policies and procedures. Completes a compe

tency skills checklist within 3 months of employment.

Qualifications

Education:Graduate from an accredited school of nursing. License/ Certifications:Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of Nevada.Current Basic Life Support (BLS).Current ACLS certification.Current NRP certification.

AWHONN Fetal monitoring validation within 6 months of hire if previously certified. If newly certified, required within first eighteen months.

STABLE current certification must be obtained within three (3) months of Hire/Transfer. Experience:Minimum of 1 year recent labor & delivery nursing experience, in a comparable unit. Special Skills:Proficiency in surgical suite nursing procedures and skills strongly preferred.
