REQUIRED EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE/SKILL
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Experience supervising children is required.
- Must obtain CPR/First Aid certification within three months of hire.
- Associate’s degree in child development, education, or related field is preferred.
- Ability to convey information effectively through speech and writing skills.
- Ability to coordinate and collaborate effectively with others.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/TASKS/EFFORT
- Arrive prior to the start of the program to assist in setting up for the day. Remain on site until excused by the supervisor or when all children have left and equipment and supplies are put away.
- Directly supervises children in the Kids Club Program and coordinates with community resources scheduled to provide recreational and educational activities for participants.
- Provide schedule availability to supervisor along with communicate any schedule changes.
- Helps to plan and implement the activities of Kids Club which focus on meeting goals and objectives for each group.
- Greets parents with courtesy, fields questions.
- Helps prepare and serve nutritious meals and snacks.
- Provides all day programming for full school length days during the school year and during winter and spring breaks.
- Completes incident reports as necessary.
- Ensures that children sign in and sign out of Kids Club and that only authorized parents/guardians pick up children.
- Observes discipline policy, records participant behavior, keeps up files.
- Maintains a clean facility, equipment, and supplies.
- Provides summer programming as scheduled.
- Administers assessments to participating children.
- Maintains good working relationships with school personnel, janitors, secretaries and parents.
- Records behavior and participation of each child in the program and helps to evaluate progress.
- Completes all necessary paperwork in a timely manner.
- Attends program trainings.

TRAVEL

The noise level is usually minimal to moderate. Works in well-lighted, climate-controlled environment.

This position will engage and assist all YSS volunteers (individuals and groups) adhering to volunteer management best practices to ensure meaningful volunteer experiences. This position will maximize the skills and interests of all YSS volunteers to better impact our organization and the youth and families we serve.
