Job Description
Working location: Norfolk Naval Shipyard $15.16/hr ****Candidates with disabilities, or Rehab Referrals only**** The Janitor cleans and keeps in an orderly condition factory working areas and washrooms, or premises of an office, apartment house, or commercial or other establishment. Duties involve a combination of the following: sweeping, mopping or scrubbing and polishing floors; removing chips, trash and other refuse; dusting equipment, furniture or fixtures; polishing metal fixtures or trimmings; providing supplies and minor maintenance services; and cleaning lavatories, showers and restrooms (WDR 11150).

- Cleans and keeps in an orderly condition working areas and washrooms of an office, or commercial or other establishment.
- Sweeping, scrubbing, waxing and polishing floors using brooms, mops and powered scrubbing and waxing machines.
- Cleaning rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture and draperies using vacuum cleaner.
- Dusting furniture and equipment.
- Polishing metalwork such as fixtures and fittings.
- Washing walls, ceiling, and woodwork.
- Washington windows, door panels, and sills
- Emptying wastebaskets and cleaning ashtrays.
- Transporting trash, waste and other refuse to disposal area.
- Cleaning restrooms' fixtures, floors, walls and replenishing supplies.
- Responsible for working with a positive team spirit and producing quality work.
- Responsible for appropriate conduct and demeanor as dictated by Didlake policy.
- Follows safety standards and guidelines in the proper use f equipment and other activities.
- Completes and maintains all Didlake required trainings.
Education:
- Six (6)months custodial experience or High School diploma/GED
Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to obtain and maintain a credential for facility access and/or background check as required.
- Ability to carry out simple but detailed oral instructions.
- Ability to communicate with co-workers and work as part of a team
- Ability to interact effectively with co-workers with disabilities.
