Job Description

Southside Virginia Community College is seeking a motivated 12-month IT faculty member and program head for the College’s Center for Information Technology Excellence (CITE) program located at the Lake Country Advanced Knowledge Center (LCAKC) in South Hill, Virginia. The successful candidate must be committed to our mission to provide quality education to a diverse constituency. Specific duties include but are not limited to:

Teaching and student advising. Classes taught may be a combination of day, night and/or weekends and a combination of seated, online, or hybrid. Classes may be located on or off campus, possibly in local high schools, or in a correctional center across locations served by the college. The annual teaching load for this position is 15 credit hours (each) for Fall and Spring, 10 hours Summer semesters. Serves as program head. Other duties include serving on committees and advising students, participating in professional activities, mentoring adjunct instructors, and may include program development and assessment.

Other duties as assigned.

SVCC is located in a rural setting of rolling hills, pine and hardwood forests, and farmland. The area also offers sports arenas for baseball, softball, soccer and beautiful golf courses. There are cultural activities including various theaters and arts councils offering concerts, plays, and live entertainment, and there are many local festivals held throughout the year.

Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s in teaching field. A minimum of 2 years of full-time related occupational experience. Current CompTia certification in one or more of the following areas, ITF+, A+, Server+, Network+, Security+
Preferred Qualifications Two or more CompTia certifications. 5 years or more experience in networking administration, help desk administration, or other supervisory IT position. Teaching experience in both adult and dual enrollment settings.
